Conclusion: Great fun but its one of those game were you keep saying to yourself why did they do that? or why didn't they do this?.This game has all the right elements good graphics and gameplay(sea battles are great fun) but falls short of what it could have been.
Excerpt: This is a fun game to play with lots of swash buckling action and the chance to use every pirate stereotype phrase that you can think of. In the game you play a pirate who carries out a campaign of revenge against the Spanish who wronged you and the objective of the game is to amass as much wealth as possible while you character ages until you get to retire into the pirate hall of fame.
Summary: Despite being a tad on the repetitive side, for what it is, Pirates is still a fun game. There's plenty to do, and it's opened ended, which means you can do whatever you like. While it's worth checking out if you were a fan of the original, I'd be hesitant to recommend the Xbox version over the PC format.
Excerpt: At the start of the game you are introduced to your family your character and your enemy baron Raymond when they get taken away because they are in debt but your Character tries to escape and succeeds now on with the review. The game it self is really fun and addictive in fact while I'm writing this I'm playing it as well you start of as a lonely pirate sailing around and visiting loads of different cities in your ship recruiting more pirates and trying to uncover the...
Summary: I feel that pirates is a good game with a very gentle learning curve but after you've played it after a while it does get boring because there isn't anything to do after a while Overall i think this game is good to start with but i wouldn't recommend it to a friend
Summary: Although the main premisse of the game is pretty original and it contains a lot of different minigames, you will find that you have to repeat the same processes over and over again. The game is not bad and you actually learn quite a bit about the Caribbeans and their geography but there's just a lot of repetition and you won't be playing it much after your first run because you won't be able to put up with yet another dance sequence or yet another swordfight.
Summary: Ultimately, Pirates is a simple game in an age where games are becoming more and more complicated with much more involved storylines, not that it's a bad thing. What makes this such a good game is the sheer variety involved. You play the captain of a band of pirates and you start out with your little ship which you can upgrade and trade in for bigger vessels.
