World Championship Poker 2 Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: World Championship Poker 2 is the best poker game on the market. Not by much, but it is nonetheless. The career mode, quick play, and multiplayer aspects of the game all combine to make a nice little package for your hard-earned twenty bucks. The attribute system is a nice addition and while the mini-game representation of the poker face doesn’t come off as well as it should, WCP 2’s ability to deliver a more authentic experience than its competitors is the deciding...

Scarface: The World is Yours

The Gamers Temple
26 December 2007
  • Excerpt: “Say hello to my little friend!” That famous line marks the beginning of the end for Scarface in the movie, as after much bloodshed and cursing Tony Montana is finally iced by one of his attackers. This line also marks the beginning of the Scarface game, which you’d think would make for a spectacularly violent but exceedingly short game. That would be the case if the game followed the movie’s plot, but things work out a little differently for Tony in the game.

Video Game talk
27 November 2006
  • Excerpt: When the Grand Theft Auto series came out with the PS2 still in its infancy, it became apparent that it would only be a matter of time before the big gaming studios would secure the rights to some of our most beloved gangster movies. The people at Sierra decided to finally take this style of gameplay and apply it to an actual movie franchise. The result is one of the simultaneously most loved and hated films of all time in video game form, Scarface.

Scarface: The World is Yours

The Armchair Empire
2 November 2006
  • Conclusion: game, Tony gains access to an "exotics" catalogue which allows him to purchase, via a clunky satellite phone, just about anything he wants, including a massive list of vehicles (including boats) and various goons that will bring said vehicles to wherever Tony is, as well as not so useful furnishings for his mansion, like plastic pelicans, which increase Tony's reputation (another important mechanic in the game).

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Whilst comparisons with the king of free-form roam-em-ups GTA will invariably be abound this title stands admirably on its own legs. It is rare for a movie tie-in to actually take advantage of its license but thankfully this is one game that does - the Scarface label adds an extra dimension which is not found elsewhere.
