Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown

ActionTrip
22 October 2003
  • Conclusion: The remake to one of my favorite games of all times brings some colorful characterization and narrative, along with great voice acting and flashy particle effects, but it fails to sufficiently advance the original's simplistic gameplay.
  • Pros: Great dialogues, characterization and voice acting; looks solid at times (character models, facial animation, particle effects), some mini games can be fun;
  • Cons: Strategy portion of the game lacks plenty more challenge and depth; the game is too easy, simplistic and over too quickly, no replay value whatsoever, dodgy animation during sword fighting sequences.

Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown Review

  • Conclusion: As stated many times the concept of RH: DotC is a good one. The idea of placing a massive Risk-like strategy game in the Robin Hood era is thought provoking on its own, and adding all sorts of other elements to the mix is also a good idea.

Robin Hood - Defender of the Crown

Gamecell
29 April 2004
  • Conclusion: The trouble with Defender of the Crown is that the game suffers by trying very hard to emulate the original. Games have moved on in the last 17 years, and so, while the developer may have wanted to resurrect an old classic without just bastardising the name, they've stayed too faithful to the...
  • Pros: Basic fun., Good acting.
  • Cons: It's repetitive., Maybe a bit, retro.
