Summary: Though Namco did try making an ideal racer after long being in the loop of "Ridge Racer" I really had high hope for this title seeing I have a good rep with the company's games. However Namco's efforts for "R: Racing Evolution" is mediocre to poor. One the xbox you'd expect some pretty good graphics, but if I can compare this to something on my old Nintendo 64, well, that's saying alot. It dose have some nice car reflections I will admit.
Summary: AVOID this STEAMING PILE!!! R: Racing Evolution is probably the worst racing game on the Xbox system. I don't know what these other reviewers were smoking, but you better not pay any money for this garbage. Yeah, the graphics are decent, but the stearing is absolutely awful. The controls, gas & brakes & reverse are stupidly badly done. Idoit savants programmed this trash. There are only 2 camera views for driving. The physics are non existant. You will hate this game.
Summary: I think this game is quite imaginative, and challenging. I don't know why the story-line is put down. It is a videogame, and I've certainly seen worse story-lines and voice acting in many videogames I've played. (House of the Dead 2, comes to mind). I'm not sure why the other reviewers are complaining about the story-line. This game features a lovely Asian lady, who has worked as an EMT, and now looks forward to the challenges of working as a race car driver.
Summary: Racing Evolution is one of my three favorite games for the XBox; the other two are Project Gotham Racing 2 and Sega GT 2002. Racing Evolution's graphics are somewhat middling; better than Sega GT, but not as good as PGR2. What really sets this game apart from the others is the storyline. I won't ruin the story for you (as another reviewer almost did) but in my opinion, it adds a good element to the game, rather than detracting from it.
Summary: The story contained in this game develops like a bad anime. Essentially you are plucked from the streets of Metropolis due to your potential as a great race car driver (based on the fact that you can drive an ambulance real fast). You start to work essentially for organized crime, but eventually you move on your own to start your own racing team with friends (the mob lets you go if you win one race, beacue its the right thing to do).
Summary: This game is a classic Namco title and when it was announced I thought to myself this looks an excellent game and when I played it for the first time I was a little annoyed at how all the cars sounded the same, the developers could have spent a bit more time fine tuning the engine sounds of thr cars, but on the upside there is quite a lot of events and the career mode won't take you too long to complete.
