Pure Pinball Reader Review - 6.3

  • Conclusion: It doesn't take a feat of genius to figure out what this games about. It's pinball people, on your xbox with some suprisingly nice graphics. Ok, it doesn't push the xbox in anyway, but it's pinball! As long as the tables are good, it's bound to be fun. Which brings me to my first complaint; as a fan of the old PC shareware Pinball episodes I was disapointed to find that while there are 4 pretty detailed and engaging tables...there are only 4 of them. Just 4.

  • Conclusion: Rocking game of pinball here. Although Pure Pinball only has four tables, each is well done. Seeing as it's the only choice for pinball on Xbox at the moment, it's priced at a mere $20, and that it has the most ridiculous box art I've seen since Crazy Taxi, you can't go wrong here. If you happened to find a $20 bill on the ground, this would be a good way to spend it.

  • Conclusion: The first pinball "simulation" on the Xbox falls a little short in my opinion, but for $20, what do you expect. Start with the physics. The ball moves pretty well most of the time, and the path of the ball generally follows expectations, but on occasion, the flippers somehow grab the very edge of the ball and shoot it straight up as though it had been a solid contact. I can deal with this in a budget pinball title.

  • Conclusion: I disagree with just one thing with the reviewer and that is longetivity, A RPG is about 40 hours of gameplay and it gets a higher score. and after two weeks you have finished it. I have never mastered a pinball table in two weeks and i have but in hours in trying. (not to mention of hundreds of quaters) One table should take you about a month if not longer to totaly master, plus with 4 tables that is 4 months of gameplay. Not to mention the online scoreboard.
