Summary: I'm really into the Pirate era, so I got this as a bargain item as it seemed interesting. There are a few fun elements (e.g. driving and shooting the ships) but overall it feels hollow and false. This is not the real Caribean but a made-up world, and has no historical value at all. You only get to control one character or the ship she is on, there are no tactics to speak of, and the graphics are very poor by today's standards.
Summary: While this game is never going to set the world on fire it is an enjoyable fantasy romp and well worth investigating if you're after a bit of nautical escapism. Graphics that can only be described as average don't detract from the pleasantly varied gameplay. Alternating between controlling your ship and controlling the games heroine Kat is a welcome and well-implemented breath of fresh air in an industry usually too afraid of upsetting the consumer to mix genres.
Summary: This game does appear rather underdeveloped although the same cannot be said for the luscious heroine (on the subject, how about that barmaid in Baldur's Gate?). I found 'Pirates' to be instantly addictive, and I do not consider 3/5 a bad score. It is just that on finishing the game I was not as satisfied as I have been with other, deeper, more involving titles.
Summary: Bland graphics. Glitches. Terrible and overly simplistic ship control. BORING GAMEPLAY! This is what you let yourself in for, one of the worst gaming experiences on XBox! If you want your pirate fill, just wait for Pirates of the Carribean, which is, quite simply, brilliant fun! It may have its glitches, but compared to Black Kat it's unbelievably better. You can sail where you want, hire your crew, hire officers, raid shipping, smuggle goods etc etc.
Summary: I know that this has been getting good reviews both on-line and in magazines; I bought it, and took it back. This is a really bad game, the graphics are bland, gameplay is a complete drag and overall it's a huge dissapointment. Stay away from this!
Summary: Ok,at last a fairly decent game for the XBox that isnt a just rehash of a PC game. Quite a good story to this one, with a variety of playing modes similar to Halo - you can run around islands jumping and killing, or get on your ship and blow up the bad guys. As I mentioned the plot is quite good and will keep you tied in with a cheesy and heroic backing track, and the graphics are quite good but in time we will see a lot more from this console - in the mean time a good...
