  • Excerpt: Not to be confused with the movie (which I did), Pirates of the Caribbean is a RPG that creates an entirely new experience. Although the absence of Johnny Depp may cause some disappointment (or maybe not), choosing a direction that is unique instead of following the movie is generally a better way to go. The game isn’t without its problems, however, it has a number of bright spots to help balance the game out.

Pirates of the Caribbean Review

  • Conclusion: In the end, Akella has done a great job considering that Pirates of the Caribbean was originally the sequel to Sea Dogs. Although the lackluster land gameplay drags the experience down a bit, the sailing parts of the game are just so exciting and enthralling that you can totally forget about the less riveting parts of the game. I do prefer Bethesda's other published RPG, Morrowind, because there is simply more to do.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Active Network

  • Summary: "The sound effects are ok, but voice work becomes very irritating due to the repeated short snippets of dialogue. Music is also a bad point, it's too upbeat, unlike the perfect music that was in the original Sea Dogs game." "When Sea Dogs was released on the PC a few years ago, it turned into one of the better Role Playing games that have come out and the first one based on Pirates.
  • Pros: Excellent Graphics, Good story, Good side quests, Good role playing elements
  • Cons: Bad frame rate, Lots of bugs, Poor music, Repeated speech
