OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast Review
7 November 2006
Excerpt: It's strange how certain games are tied to a system so tightly that you don't believe they'll ever work on anything else. Outrun 2 is such a game, with fans swearing blind that it could never work as well as it does on the Xbox. So, when SEGA announced OutRun 2006: Cost 2 Coast for The PS2, Xbox and PSP (plus the PC) the news was met with much scepticism.
Excerpt: It’s been 20 years since OutRun debuted in arcades and in that time racing games have changed dramatically. Vehicular mayhem and sim racers are the order of the day, and that doesn’t seem to leave much room for a classically-styled arcade racer in today’s market. I hope that Coast 2 Coast kills that narrow-minded mentality once and for all since this is nearly everything an arcade racer should be - perfect in both short bursts and long play sessions, while also being...
Excerpt: The inclusion of every track from both arcade versions of OutRun 2 helps showcase the variety of ways you can play, while allowing you to get into numerous grooves during a single play session. If I’m in the mood to recreate some OR 2 memories, I’ll just play on those tracks for a while. Should I feel the need to play the SP tracks, I can just switch over quickly.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: If OutRun2 was, as we declared , "sex with the prom queen", then OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast is surely a dreamy, steamy reunion, with filthier, more satisfying action than before - and this time, it's an experience open to pretty much anyone with a spare thirty sheets.
Conclusion: The OutRun series of games has always being simplistic there is no debating that. If you play the title just after coming of a bout of Burnout you will obviously feel like the game is lacking something. Thankfully, OutRun: Coast 2 Coast never tries to be something its not, it revels in its simplicity pushing the OutRun formula to it limits.
Pros: peu de nouveautés, mode Coast to Coast peu inspiré
