Operation Flashpoint: Elite

XboxGamers
4 February 2006
  • Summary: Even though this game truly lacks the level of graphical and audio components that should be in a game at this time in the Xbox’s life cycle, this game is mostly about the intensity and gameplay we all have known from the Operation Flashpoint series. The game has excellent items like physics and gameplay, but the visuals and audio could be improved to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Operation Flashpoint Elite

Gamecell
24 December 2005
  • Conclusion: This is perhaps the “Microsoft Flight Simulator” of the First/Third Person Shooter genre, a brilliant concept even 4 years on, but I can’t help feeling that maybe developers Bohemia were just too ambitious for their own good in terms of scale and scope. Operation Flashpoint Elite is a potential classic, handicapped by a jerky frame rate and a lack of precision in vital areas.
  • Pros: Loads of atmosphere means you really feel you’re part of a larger conflict, The landscapes are huge, and you can see for miles, You can drive or fly, vehicles!, A real ‘sandbox’ military game
  • Cons: Horrendous frame rate, The graphics ain’t that hot, You’ll spend a large part of the game just running around trying to understand barked orders or waiting for something to happen, It’s very easy to die
