Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath

GamersHell.com
2 December 2005
  • Excerpt: I've always been an avid follower of the Xbox and its titles since its launch a few years ago. Whenever a game was announced, it was always good news, especially with the lack of titles to be released with the debut of Microsoft's console so I was quite excited and curious when the statement was made for the development and release of a title named; Oddworld Inhabitants: Munch's Odyssey.

  • Summary: I was pleasantly surprised by Strangers Wrath after the disappointment that Abe wouldn't feature at all but what we get is an excellent platforming action-adventure which blends the third-person and first-person aspects well. The game provides a unique style which can't be found in many games and with a strong storyline, beautiful environments and adventure gameplay it keeps you interested even through the unbalanced boss battles and areas of repetitive gameplay.

Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

  • Excerpt: Originally published by GT Interactive Software Corp., Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus on the PlayStation quickly amassed quite a following. With gameplay and stylings resembling the SNES/Amiga classic Another World, the mix of genuinely funny humour and platform action followed the adventures of Abe, an alien fellow, who in the first game finds himself locked in a large food factory, only to find that the main ingredient in the processed meat is… his own race!

  • Excerpt: I found myself in a bit of a predicament when it came time to review Stranger's Wrath. Having never played an Oddworld game before and never really enjoying platformer/puzzle games I thought that not only was I in for a culture shock of sorts but my point-of-view was going to be out of place for this type of game. Luckily for me though, Stranger's Wrath does not require previous knowledge of the Oddworld universe nor is it a platformer/puzzle game like its predecessors.

  • Excerpt: Early on when the Xbox was first launched, one of the few games worth picking up was Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee . Now, in what may very well be the Xbox's last year, the team at Oddworld Inhabitants has once again thrown us into the quirky and lovable Oddworld universe. The newest game in the series features a new protagonist known simply as Stranger.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath

  • Conclusion: away plot turns and twists. It happens not only in games, but in movies and television too. It’s a moment in games, movie, or a TV program that anybody with an IQ over 75 can see coming. You won’t always be able to “see it coming” in better plots, but it happens enough that we all have noticed it, especially in games. How many “save the princess” or “save the world” scenarios have we’ve all played though in our gaming adventures?

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath

Game Over Online
17 February 2005
  • Excerpt: Oddworld – it's not just a creative name for a franchise, it’s a symbol of addictive gameplay. For the past 8 years, gamers have been captivated with the strange cast of characters, simple yet engaging platforming puzzles and heavy dose of quirky humor that Abe's Exoddus and Munch's Oddysee provided. So you can just imagine the hesitation fans had when it was announced that the latest Oddworld title would be completely different from its predecessors.
