fun is not repeating

Darren Broom "fatdaz70", amazon.co.uk

  • Summary: this game had the potential to be a modern day classic but somehow alienates its audience. I confess to being a skilled gamer with too much spare time on my hands but this drove me to the point of murderous rage. I freely admit i am usually the first person to complain when a game is too easy however the opposite is plain ridiclulous.

Ninja Gaiden

S. Wright, amazon.co.uk
15 July 2004
  • Summary: I honestly cannot understand the hype regarding this game. Having bought the game, must admit very disappointed. There is nothing new or innovative about the game. The graphics are good but nothing special, especially the main character who looks super imposed on the screen. In addition the first person view etc stutters when moving around the screen and the camera angles at times is hopeless. Dont get me wrong the action is smooth but just nothing to get excited about.

Try cutting down an oak with a spoon

  • Summary: Indeed you might as well be armed with the spoon when you face the first boss of this game, if perchance you smoke I would lay in a few packs for this experience and get your hair dye ready to cover up your new mane of lovely grey hair. It is infuriatingly difficult and after my fourth or fifth attempt at killing the first boss on the tutorial level I was seriously considering fetching my chop sticks and pursuing the more rewarding act of fly catching instead.

A huge disappointment

S. Wright, amazon.co.uk
3 June 2004
  • Summary: Having read reviews giving this 10/10 I thought this was going to be a must own game like Halo, PGR2, or Knights of the Old Republic. It's not. Not by a long way. I've been playing Ninja Gaiden since it's release and have found it to be a shallow, linear, no-brainer beat 'em up with a flawed camera perspective. The camera is awful at times, especially during the boss fights where you need the game to be playable.

Tough? Try deliberately infuriating.

Rickin10 "richpit10", amazon.co.uk
26 May 2004
  • Summary: Completely agree with smartiepants 70. I heard about the toughness of this before i bought it, but my God! Now, i've been playing games for roughly 15 years and consider myself an above-average player who completes the majority of games i play. And yes, i do enjoy a challenge. But there is a differnce between a game that challenges you, that makes you think, that makes you a little frustrated - and something that is just so blatently uncompromising and bloody-minded as...
