New Legends - Great gameplay, substandard graphics
5 May 2002
Summary: New Legends has gotten poor reviews from numerous sites due to its graphics, which are not up to par with other XBOX titles. This game, however, offers outstanding gameplay which fans of old school beat-em-ups like Final Fight will love. This game was developed by Infinite Machine, headed by the designer of the original Jedi Knight. Not surprisingly, this game has a lot in common with LucasArts' Obi-Wan, which happens to use the Jedi Knight engine.
Summary: New Legends is one of the next round xBox games after initial launch. The concept of a primitive neo futuristic china is both compelling and immersive. The play style is very similar to Obi Wan with the exception that you cannot kill your allies by accident, which is a good thing. The gave is very story line driven and may seem frustrating in the beginning because you aren't given a chance to fight the arch villains that are stomping all over your kingdom.
Excerpt: Gameplay Very enjoyable, primarily due to the engrossing storyline (revolving around a post apocalyptic medieval china!). The playability is enhanced by the fact that there are no complicated special moves to sequence through the joypad. Enemies come at you at all angles and although fighting the henchmen can become quite repetitive there are puzzles to complete which add much needed stimulas.
