Dark and creepy - good dingy game

K. Joseph, Amazon
26 March 2011
  • Summary: Dark and creepy... I have to admit this game is s different kind of all those horror like games. It has interesting approach to the subject, not typical zombies or aliens but some gruesome darkness characters, and the fact that you need a lighter and a gun to move around and not get killed make this game more original the others. Overall it's a very good game.

Run towards the light!

JT "Constant Audio", Amazon
26 October 2010
  • Summary: CONCEPT: A dark presence has taken over the town of Bright Falls...it seems to be from an unfinished novel that you (Alan Wake) do not remember writing GRAPHICS: Alan Wake sports some of the finest graphics yet to be seen on the xbox 360, period. Beautiful landscapes and dark shades complimented with extreme lighting effects from various weapons offer very satisfying touches to battle scenes.

Compelled to play

Phantasmagoria, Amazon
29 July 2010
  • Summary: We all have our dream games, and rarely if ever does a title live up to its possibilities. Alan Wake has been simmering on the back burner for awhile and I tried to avoid any coverage so as not to lessen the power of the story which for once I was hoping would surpass and stretch the medium of VG. Remedy has done just that releasing what is my favorite system exclusive for the 360.

A rare delight of story and gameplay.

SCF "Software Developer", Amazon
20 July 2010
  • Summary: Crime novelist Alan Wake is a delightful character to play in this atmospheric and story-driven game. There are a number of memorable characters (Alan's agent, the brothers from Old Gods of Asgard, etc). The story is compelling and moves well, up to the end. Most importantly, the game mechanics feel solid - surprising since fighting with a pistol and a flash-light seems unwieldy. It even has a great sound-track.

I enjoyed it and recommend it

Ryan Zander, Amazon
12 July 2010
  • Summary: I enjoyed the way in which the story was told. The gameplay is fairly repetitive but fits into the story very well. The game itself isn't very long so I didn't find the repetition to be much of a deterrent. My biggest praise is how the chapters of the story are episodic and self contained.

Following the light in Bright Falls

H. Robert Hastings "Robert R. Hastings", Amazon
9 July 2010
  • Summary: Remedy Entertainment announced Alan Wake all the way back in 2005 during the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo. Since then it's popped on and off of people's radars at sparing intervals, and now that it's finally been released, it seems as if Duke Nukem Forever should be only just around the corner. It can then only be described as fortunate that with such a long development period, Alan Wake has turned out to be a compelling and rewarding title to experience.

Pretty to look at but needed some tweaks.

dewey@bcpl.net, Amazon
8 July 2010
  • Summary: Just a few thoughts if you are considering buying. 1. Like the others say, the game is linear, with one way to go. I love games that let me explore terrain, and would have liked to be able to wander around a bit more. 2. I am not a very skilled gamer (not coordinated) and I managed to solve the game at "normal" setting pretty easily. Although I was thrilled to be able to solve a game (!!!!) a really good player may want to start at hard or nightmare.

Little Brother

Overstock
22 June 2007
  • Summary: My little bro is 10, it was his bday so i ordered it for him out of convenience. He thoroughly enjoys the game when he plays it, most often with his buddies. It's almost been a month and it's still the game that's in his X-box. So yeah, if you're into sporting games the 2K series seems to be the cream of the crop.
