Excerpt: NBA 2K6, an introduction. Basketball fans hoping to get their hands on a great basketball game when the Xbox 360 launched will have been disappointed that the only title on offer was the disappointing NBA Live 06. NBA Live 06 lacked a lot of content and was simply a threadbare product. Thankfully basketball fans haven't had long to wait for NBA 2K6 to arrive on the Xbox 360.
Excerpt: It's hard to imagine that there are still other sports developers out there in this EA world. Think about it. You've got a competing publisher that's already bought out the ESPN licence, you can no longer develop football games, and that publisher still has enough money left over to acquire the rights for every other sport out there, including water polo, badminton, and heck, even touch football. You'd think it would be a bit of a downer for 2K Sports right?
Excerpt: Bounce with me. The first few weeks of the NBA season are truly bizarre. The lowly Clippers stand atop the Pacific while the talented Nuggets mull about the basement of the Northwest. Milwaukee is undefeated and Cleveland is scratching .500. The still-expansion Bobcats are fourth in the league in scoring, while the potent Kings are twenty -fourth. Fantasy rosters look absolutely retarded right now.
Pros: Control enhancements everywhere, Solid A.I., Good visuals, The Association is back to normal, 24/7 is still here, All that control could use some refinement, Powerbar sucks
Excerpt: Everyone knows all about clouds and silver linings, right? Well, the agreement that gave EA Sports an exclusive deal with the NFL was one heck of a dark cloud, and it didn't appear to be lined with much of anything, except perhaps more clouds.
Conclusion: NBA 2K6 is a fun game that is truly made for the basketball enthusiasts who just live and breathe the NBA. I can honestly say that I have never been as impressed with any game from the 2K series as I am with NBA 2K6. This game combines all the right ingredients to make one heck of a basketball experience. If you love the NBA, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t go run out and purchase this game!
Conclusion: Sometimes I wish you could just combine Final Four’s vast selection of gaming modes and the gameplay mechanics from other great basketball title. Unfortunately, that isn’t possible as of yet, so for the most part Final Four is a game with great selection of game modes, but not good enough gameplay to back it up.
