NBA 2K2 Review

IGN Entertainment
6 March 2010
  • Conclusion: By waiting to release this title, I believe Sega did the game justice. The game has a well rounded and mature feel about it that only time in development could bring about. Though late to arrive on the shelves NBA 2K2 has definitely set a new benchmark for future basketball games to look up to. Some people argue that the game has been released at an ill-fated time because NBA 2K3 has a release date scheduled for late 2002.

  • Excerpt: The Dreamcast is one of my all time favorite systems (along with the Xbox of course). It has so many incredible games, such as Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online and Soul Calibur, which are pure gaming goodness and hold a special spot in my heart. But, out of all the amazing titles that graced my beloved DC, one game stands taller then all the rest. That game is NBA 2K.

NBA 2K2

Operation Sports
15 March 2002
  • Excerpt: Since the series’ 1999 debut on the Dreamcast, Visual Concepts has set and exceeded the standard for basketball games year in and year out. This year is no exception as NBA 2K2 was a very good game for both the Dreamcast and the PS2. Xbox owners unfortunately had to wait until late February until this series arrived on that console. The good news is that they were rewarded with the most refined edition of the series to date.

NBA 2K2 Review

GameSpot
15 January 2002
  • Excerpt: Those still not familiar with Sega's NBA 2K series--take notice. Last year's NBA 2K1 was easily one of the best basketball games on the market. This year's version--which comes complete with revamped animation, new zone defenses, and improved AI--garnishes that winning formula to create the most true-to-life simulation of the National Basketball League to date.
