Excerpt: Electronic Arts is the monolith of sports video games. I am not completely convinced that driving a car around a track is a sport. Don’t get me wrong, it is challenging, but a sport? Nascar 07 on the Playstation 2 (PS2), and Xbox consoles is a Nascar fans dream come true. Players can drive with confidence as they build up an all new Momentum Meter by surviving the most dangerous situations to improve handling, and speed.
Conclusion: Some may feel that NASCAR 07 doesn’t really differentiate itself that much from the pervious titles, but I really don’t think that’s the case. Most of the better features of NASCAR 07 ’s predecessors have returned, and the few new features make for a better gameplay experience. I’m not sure that EA could have done much more with the older hardware, and even if they could, the next-gen push wipes out the chance of seeing any real innovation anyways.
Conclusion: EA Overall, NASCAR 07 is a solid game that plays just fine, but it is pretty hard to recommend if you already have NASCAR 06: Total Team Control. It isn’t a question of the quality of the game, really, but more the value you are getting for your money and NASCAR 07 just doesn’t offer enough new stuff to make it worthwhile. If you are new to NASCAR games or just want to have an updated roster (although a few key stars are missing …), 07 is just what you are looking for.
Conclusion: before, due to the screen blur and force feedback effects you’ll encounter. More assisting to you racing performance is the new adjustable car-handling abilities that allow you to set your car’s settings to suit your own personal tastes. By driving well, you can also increase your driver’s skill set, with the variable driver attribute system, working your way up from a NASCAR rookie to ripping up the asphalt and transforming into a checkered-flag-collecting success.
Excerpt: I'm making a promise to you right now; I will not make a Ricky Bobby joke in this review. While yes, that would be easy to do I just don't feel like it's something that needs to be done. But I can't guarantee that I won't poke fun at NASCAR thanks to my biased feelings about the sport; but I will try.
Excerpt: Ask the typical NASCAR fan what attracts them to the sport and you are likely to get back a laundry list of answers. Some like the speed. Others seem to be partial to the rivalries that develop. Many like the teamwork, the adrenaline, heck; some may just like the pretty stickers on the car. The point is there is no right or wrong answer to the appeal of NASCAR.
Conclusion: NASCAR 07 is a game that just continues the success of an already successful series with not as much “new” as we have seen in the past. NASCAR 07 is still a very good game that offers up a lot of great racing experiences that for me was still an enjoyable game except for the disappointing online play. For fans of the series, I would recommend this game if you just can’t hold for next year’s game.
Conclusion: The PSP version is an excellent transition keeping up equally with the console version. You will probably only want own one version, so its either gaming on on the go or sitting in front of a TV. I was really impressed in the quality of the handheld version and it shows a lot of promise considering this is EA first NASCAR PSP title.
