Mercenaries is a worthy investment for fans of both the genre and destructive mayhem. The overall gameplay isn't revolutionary, but is a blast to play from start to finish. There are plenty of things to do in the game, some of which give the game extra replay value, such as unlocking Han Solo and Indiana Jones as playable characters. While the game screams for online multiplayer action, it's sadly not a part of the package. Still, the game's single-player campaign is... Read more
LucasArts, not willing to be outdone by Rockstar, has released their own GTA-wannabe game called Mercenaries. However, the game is only a GTA-wannabe on the surface, once you get into the game and start playing, you’ll realize Mercenaries has a lot to offer, and has an original take on some used and abused ideas in the “open-ended” genre. Mercenaries really does live up to its subtitle – it’s a playground of destruction out there and it’s fun. Read more
Ahhh. Death, destruction and extreme violence: how better than to spend a cold winter's evening. In fact, it's a great way to spend any evening. Blowing stuff up generally appeals to our inner warrior, and the more spectacular the explosion, the more compelling this psychopathic indulgence becomes. Hence, Pandemic's latest blow 'em up, Mercenaries, has us cackling incessantly in a blood-curdlingly menacing fashion. It's a free-roaming stomp around a pseudo-fictional... Read more
When describing Pandemic's Mercenaries , one might think that comparing it to Grand Theft Auto would be likening it to the other mediocre titles that have tried to compete and came up short. But, rather than trying to fall almost directly in line with the modern crime settings, Mercenaries decides to take the "sandbox" gameplay mechanic and place it in a different setting, succeeding at establishing a different experience. It's like Grand Theft Auto of war. You can steal cars and destroy everything. I can spend hours playing this game. They also just made this game backwards compatible with the 360. Guess all the complaint letters paid off. You can pick this game up for around $20 right now. Read more
This is a great game, the only downside i saw was that you have to trek up and down the map, but that can all be sorted by either GTC (Grand Theft Chopper) or a call to the Merchant of Menice. Read more
this game was fun and hard to play. lots of explosions ( you get C4, carpet bombs, air strikes, RPGs, anti-air, and lots of others) lots of guns ( carbines, snipers, shotguns, SMGs, assualt rifle and lots more) All though this game was fun to play it took a while to get used to and after a certain point it became more of a chore to play it. frequent deaths, mission failures, and factions hating you it kinda got me angry. this is a game you will probaly buy, play it once... The game in general is very fun. It has lots of missions. You'll be playing it for a very loooooong time. I did find that some of the missions weren't very straight forward in telling you what the objectives were. The sound is good, done by an orchastra. It would of been nice to throw in the feature of custom soundtracks though. No rock music in a gun game is weird. Overall, I would say well worth your money considering how long you'll be playing it! Pick it up. Read more
