Medal of Honor: Rising Sun Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: Medal of Honor simply doesn’t deliver what Xbox’ers are used to in terms of a quality first-person shooter. People will pleased with the history lessons and the dramatic, opening cut-scene/playing mode, but I feel it will be hard stomaching the brunt of the gameplay. I look forward to next year’s effort which hopefully will include some Live functionality and a much more intelligent enemy AI.

  • Excerpt: The Medal of Honour series have been renowned for their accurate history of wars, as well as their great gameplay. Medal of Honour: Rising Sun keeps this reputation going, and adds more to it. Featuring a number of authentic weapons and locations based on war history, Medal of Honour: Rising Sun is an enjoyable war shooter, however it also features some problems. Gameplay The game begins with a great cut scene showing you and other comrades asleep in a large ship.

  • Excerpt: Medal of Honor: Rising Sun covers the Pacific campaign for America. You begin the campaign on a ship docked at Pearl Harbor. Reminiscent of the Hollywood movie of the same name, you'll find yourself in front of machine gun turrets shooting down Japanese Zero fighters. The opening sequence with the words “general quarters, general quarters” is riveting a bang. Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor series has until recently been playing at a high level.

  • Excerpt: Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor series has until recently been playing at a high level. Despite a minority of critics accusing it of being too scripted and fixed, it has for the most part produced stellar titles regardless of the hardware platform. From Normandy to the depths of the Fatherland, Medal of Honor may not be the most realistic, but it has always been enjoyable. Medal of Honor: Rising Sun covers the Pacific campaign for America.

Medal of Honor Rising Sun Review

GameSpot
12 November 2003
  • Excerpt: These days, Electronic Arts must expect the Medal of Honor games to sell solely on the strength of their name alone. The newest game in the acclaimed World War II-themed series of shooters, subtitled Rising Sun, adopts the same formula used by its predecessors, but it's fraught with lots of minor gameplay problems that eventually add up to one major headache.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun

  • Conclusion: Sadly MOH:RS is the most disappointing game of the year for me, all the much-publicised research and attention to detail seems to have been wasted on a clunky, ancient game engine, and I was expecting so much more. The excellent presentation and sound certainly manages to conjure up some atmosphere, but the poor visuals quickly spoil any illusion - this once excellent series has gone a bridge too far , and sadly the way it ends suggests that EA are going to do their...
  • Pros: Although it's not very good, RS has a two-player co-op mode, which is a good thing., The smoke - it looks fantastic., The Elephant - yep, the, is definitely the best bit.
  • Cons: Horrible, basic graphics and glitches galore., Dumb AI on both sides., We don't want over-sanitised war games., RS is also rather short, and the scary thing is that the plot means an almost certain sequel - Suggested title: Medal of Honor: Setting Sun.

  • Conclusion: Grötiga och fula animationer, texturer och karaktärer.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
