  • Excerpt: The venerable Battletech franchise gets a new lease on console-based life in MechAssault. Featuring amazing graphics, destructible environments, and an incredibly fun online multiplayer through Xbox LIVE, this is definitely a big robot title with serious appeal.

Mechassault

Gamecell
26 August 2004
  • Conclusion: Mechassault is certainly an impressively destructive mech game that'll supply fans of the genre with a lot of mechfun, but it required softer armour or more destructive weapons to make it truly satisfying. Some longer ranged (the equivalent of a mech sniper rifle perhaps?) or some remote controlled missiles may have made the action more varied and pleasing.
  • Pros: Superb explosions, loads of destruction and detail., System link & Xbox Live.
  • Cons: Less than thrilling single player game and uninspired multiplayer modes., Predictable and yawnsome battles., Some poor presentation screens., No cockpit view.

Total destructability, hmm... Where do I sign?

  • Conclusion: Mech Assault will make a fine addition to any games library, and it's one of those games that will always be dragged out of the 'game retirement' closet beacuse it's just plain old-fashioned, no-nonsense fun. If I was to describe it in two words, I'd say this: Totally Destructable Environments.

Test : MechAssault

GameHope
12 October 2014
