Summary: I was really looking forward to this sequel. In fact, I ordered it online and then bought at a store when I saw it was available just so I wouldn't have to wait for it. Bad Idea. The first thing I noticed in campaign is how much slower the game play is. I thought I was imagining it, but then as the game went on, It became more evident. Assault class mechs crawl along. It was starting to get annoying. Also, not being able to have a choice of Mechs before each level sucks.
Summary: I am a huge fan of MechAssault 1 and have been playing it ever since it came out. I've played the second one for 4 days now and am pretty disappointed. After 1 hour of game play I was so mad I was ready to take it back but I gave it a while to be fair. This review reflects online play only. The offline game you can complete in 3 hours. Ok storyline. Graphics: The graphics are up to date as I expected since it has been a couple years since the last release.
Summary: I love Mechwarrior on the PC but have luke-warm feelings about Mechassualt on the Xbox. It really is a so-so game, far too short and is lacking in any durability outside of xbox live. I finished it in 3 days with sparse and irregular playing. I really wish that Xbox/Microsoft would actually produce games that last beyond a weekend. Not impressed.
Summary: Being a huge fan of the Mechwarrior novels and an avid player of the Mechwarrior PC games, I was glad to see a Mech game on the X-Box(especially as Steel Battalion is ridiculously out of my price range!) On powering up the X-Box, I jumped straight in and quickly became more than a little upset. For a console that is desperately short of any sort of sim, be it Mech, Fighter Plane, Space Craft or Helicopter, Mechassault could have been the game we were crying out for.
