Oh is that it?

Summary: Magic: the gathering battlegrounds for the Xbox. Where do I start? Well, I'll try my best. Magic: the gathering battlegrounds is nothing like the turn-based game that I expected with a 'Magic the gathering' game. In place of the card game based video game is a beat-em-up based game full of almost uncontrolable battles, absolutely inconsistent levels, weird arenas and so on. For one thing, you have to do many, many things at once once you start battling.
Might be good on XBox Live but for those with no friends...

Summary: First off I'd like to point out that I am reviewing this on the basis that I haven't played it on XBox Live, just on single player. That said I do subscribe to the old fashioned view that a game like this should be able to stand up on it's own merits and that online play should be a bonus. I also should point out that although I have heard of the Magic the Gathering series I have never played the card game. The main part of the single player game is the quest.
Summary: As someone who is actually very fond of the previous Microprose PC game version of the original cardgame, (still with me?), mainly because of the depth of strategy involved, with different decks having different tactical strengths and weaknesses, I found this deeply disappointing.
