Summary: good game like GTA but old style, old graphics and set in the olden days. I imagine most people who like GTA would hate this game because it is in the shadows of the newest GTA but its a good game which you can play from time to time
An entertaining GTA style driving game with great visuals

Excerpt: Mafia came out on the PC a year after Grand Theft Auto 3, meaning that they were in production over much of the same period of time. The similarities are immense- Like GTA3, Mafia sees you playing in third person in a large cityscape, and has you engaging in on-foot gunfights as well as epic car chases through the city's streets.
Excerpt: Best PC game in my opinion. The storyline is superb, the graphics are great, the gameplay is amazing and the missions are varied, there's stuff to do when the game is completed and you can get hugely frustraited with missions when you can't do them. It's a truely brilliant game and cannot wait till the 2nd installment, the shooting and movement are easy to get used to, as is the driving, the police aspect is great and the speed limiter if you want it (although did anyone...
Well worth the money, you'll get hours of play out of this

Excerpt: As soon as I heard about Mafia and saw the trailer I was counting down the days until its release and I was not disappointed. The first time you play the game through you may find it difficult. Some of the cars can be difficult to control especially at high speeds and you often run into areas with a substantial number of enemies but it's not ridiculously difficult, it just requires a little bit of skill.
Excerpt: I came to this game after playing 'GTA-Vice City' for months on end and was looking for a little bit more story line. 'Mafia' has a great storyline and the graphics are superb. However, in my opinion, I did find that the game was just too hard!! I have played these sort of games for many many years yet found this game very hard indeed! I found myself having to do the missions repeatedly in order to pass them and this very quickly got frustrating.
A game with so much character. The story and gameplay are outstanding

Excerpt: As one of the first PC games I ever played, this was a fantastic introduction into PC gaming, and left my expectations so high that I have never been as satisfied by a game since! This game is a crime game set in America in the 1930's. The game is driven by a fantastic story. You play as Tommy, originally a taxi driver, gets roped into escaping with two mafia men in his taxi away from a rival gang.
Summary: I recently bought this game on the cheap as the XBOX is coming to the end of its life and I can honestly say this is a pretty decent game despite a lot of criticisms from other reviewers. Yes, the game has flaws such as mediocre graphics (apart from the cutscenes)and an initially irritating shooting system, however the story is top notch and the missions offer a lot of variety (the racing level pissed me off though.
Excerpt: Yet another purchase from Game - this time I actually paid £22.99 for Mafia a few weeks after reading a review of the new Godfather game to be released for the X-Box 360. Being a big fan of the Gangsters PC game I decided it was time to fall back to my Italian roots, take the oath and extort some cash from the poor citizens of Chicago. Lets roll!!
Cons: no gameplay to speak of - instantly forgettable - samey missions
