Summary: good game like GTA but old style, old graphics and set in the olden days. I imagine most people who like GTA would hate this game because it is in the shadows of the newest GTA but its a good game which you can play from time to time
Summary: I recently bought this game on the cheap as the XBOX is coming to the end of its life and I can honestly say this is a pretty decent game despite a lot of criticisms from other reviewers. Yes, the game has flaws such as mediocre graphics (apart from the cutscenes)and an initially irritating shooting system, however the story is top notch and the missions offer a lot of variety (the racing level pissed me off though.
Excerpt: "...I actually paid £22.99 for Mafia a few weeks after reading a review of the new Godfather game to be released for the X-Box 360. Being a big fan of the Gangsters PC game I decided it was time to fall back to my Italian roots, take the oath and extort some cash from the poor citizens of Chicago. Lets roll!! Cons: no gameplay to speak of - instantly forgettable - samey missions

Sadly, it's not as good as the GTA series to have a large impact. Mafia originated on the PC quite a while ago and has since come out on Xbox and PS2 and despite this, the PC version being good, the console conversions aren't anything special. It does have some minor differences which make it inferior to the PC.
Summary: That was one of the best games I have ever played on the XBox. If you are into Gangster films then you will see a lot of similarities between the game and several gangster films that I have seen, parts of the game reminded me of Casino, there are parts of it that are similar to Godfather, and the way that the game is written is like a film.
Summary: Everyone compares this game to GTA & although it shares some similarities it shouldn't be. Okay the targetings not great but it makes it more interseting as far as I'm concerned. The cars are slow and dont handle too well but I reckon this adds to the game play, rather than high speed chases you are required to use more skill in getting around and when you pull it off well you get more satisfaction, also its the first game of its type, I think, where you can run out of...
