OK for kids, but no challenge for adults

  • Summary: This is not too bad a game when you start off. Three playable charachters and lots of things to find and do, but after a while you realise theres not a great deal of substance there. Also this is nothing like the EA LOTR games, more of a platform. I bought this and finished it within two days/six hours gameplay. If buying this for kids its a good game. Otherwise avoid, as it will be finished far too quickly.

Wait for two towers!

  • Summary: Having recently bought an X-box, my immediate choice for a game was this one. Being a huge fan of the book and the films i couldn't wait to get my hands on this game. I wish I hadn't bothered. The game is far too short. It will certainly not entertain for a long period. I completed the game with about 16 hours game play. I took the game back after only a weekends play. The game is very linear. There is little room for exploration. The graphics are very good.

I bought it... I took it back!

  • Summary: Ok, so it is the first lord of the rings game to come out on the xbox, but you would have thought that with all the hype from the films they would have made this game something special. The graphics of the game are alright, but they could have done so much more with it. They are not the standard that you would expect from such an advanced console. The gameplay is terrible, it starts of as a kind of strategy game, working out clues, and finding things.

Not a good buy.

  • Summary: Whatever you do, don't buy this game as a result of watching the film! If you are a big fan of the book, then you might want to consider buying it, but only if you haven't got a tight budget when it comes to buying games. To begin with, the game starts of nice and slow with several 'sub quests' based around Shire folk. It's a bit slow, but it gives you a chance to get used to the controls.
