  • Excerpt: Along with competing in tournaments, there are also skill challenges for each level of competition which help you earn more money and open up better equipment. And, believe me, the more money you have, and the better your equipment, the better you will golf.

  • Excerpt: For hardcore fans of the sport of golf, there has never been a better franchise available than the PC’s Links . Xbox fans are now getting in on the action, and whilst many things have been jazzed up for this Live-enabled incarnation, gamers who are new to the series will be surprised at just how easy the game is to pick up. Swings are performed with the left analog stick – just like in the Tiger Woods titles – with spin being applied with the right one.

Links 2004

Xbox-Hq.Com
6 May 2004
  • Excerpt: As one of the older franchises around, Links has been given new life in Microsoft’s XSN series. Much improved from past releases, Links 2004 offers a complete makeover from graphics down to putting. Although lacking the attention to detail that creates a realistic golf simulation, Links 2004 puts together a golf experience easy to pick up but short on substance.

Links 2004

  • Excerpt: Links has had good success with their golf game franchise on the PC platform, and has made its way on the console, coming out for Xbox. I must say, this game is one of the best from XSN this year. The game preserves its seriousness and impressive graphics. The terrains are real eye candy. I had the chance to try out the latest Tiger Woods game, and unfortunately, Links has far less customization options, but the game remains a very good one and kept me playing for hours.

The thing's people do to avoid golf...

  • Conclusion: And after being handcuffed to the game for three weeks straight - with no more than lawn clippings, recycled paper cuttings and mud for sustenance - I guess I'm finally a golf convert ( Albeit a convert bleeding profusely from the neck, with a motley hand and a flunky to wipe up after him) .

Kinectimals Review

XboxGaming
13 February 2005
  • Conclusion: The game is helped by the fact that both the pets and the mysterious island on which the story (yes, there actually is one) unfolds are rendered in gorgeous graphical detail; this is probably the best-looking game in Kinect’s current line-up. The cubs’ animation is particularly impressive, and it’s sometimes tempting to forget that these aren’t real animals.
  • Pros: Fantastically natural, intuitive interactions, Wide variety of activities, Pets are believable and totally adorable
  • Cons: Really only suitable for children, Not enough focus on merely interacting with the pets

Links 2004

Gamecell
13 December 2004
  • Conclusion: Links is a great golf game. It does lack a few of the options and variety of Mr Woods' game and non live players may soon get fed up with the single player mode, but having played this and the other Golf game I would say that it's a close call as to which is the better game - for me the ability to play Links 2004 on Live just gives it an edge, and pushes it to the top of the Xbox Leaderboard.
  • Pros: Lovely to look at, Great to play, It's LIVE!
  • Cons: Seasoned golfers may find the relative lack of "real" pros and courses annoying.
