Jade Empire is BioWare’s third role playing game for the Xbox and possibly it’s best achievement ever since. The story line is convincing, the fighting system is better than some fighting games out there and the graphics are again really beautiful. Still I felt some lack of commitment. Had they given the main character a voice and had they kept those loading screens where they belong, this game might have a higher score. Maybe it’s that terrible hype monster again... Read more

It would be easy to say that Jade Empire is just “KOTOR” in ancient China with stripped down mechanics and a more action-oriented combat system. The sad fact is, if I had to describe the game to someone in one sentence that is what I would have to say. Despite the game’s many shortcomings though, it is still a very entertaining title that I would definitely recommend to anybody who are into role-playing titles, or anyone who wants to know what American role-playing... Hot on the heels of the much celebrated Knights of the Old Republic , Bioware has taken their successful RPG formula and used it as the core for a story-heavy RPG of a different flavor. The world of Jade Empire is a fictional land patterned after the mythology of the ancient orient. In it, your main character starts out as a promising student off in the far flung corner of the empire. After evil raiders attack the town, you're set upon a quest for revenge and... Read more

Jade Empire’s unusual setting and deep, rich story should make it appealing to RPG fans. Other gamers will appreciate the more action-focused combat and shorter game length – about half that of typical RPGs. All gamers will enjoy the quality of the game, its attention to detail, and the unique story it weaves. Jade Empire will be one of the top RPGs of the year and all Xbox gamers owe it to themselves to at least give the game a try. Read more

  1. Review – Jade Empire

I actually picked this game up just last week, and I’ve been gradually going through the starting areas. One thing I remember distinctly when I read a preview for this game is that all the designers involved read Outlaws of the Marsh (Shui Hu Zhuan), one of the four Chinese classics and coincidentally an inspiration for Suikoden as well. From what I’ve played this game has a lot of Outlaws’ flavor – several characters were taken from the book, for example. I... Read more

Okay, so it would be biased of me to give an all-around glowing review seeing as this is the first game I've ever finished. It is a wonderful game though, and to those of you that like Fable and are wondering if this is good, play it! You start off creating your character (and I recommend customization to the extreme, it helps in the long run), choosing gender and character type. From there, as soon as you start the game any choice you make changes the game and makes a... Read more

Jade Empire is a perfect blend of action and rpg elements. Unlike many rpgs, including Bioware's Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire's combat isn't turn based or menu driven. Because of this the game flows much better and plays like a standard action game; you run up to enemies and tap buttons to punch or evade. Throughout the course of the game, your character will learn different styles of martial arts which is pretty cool. Unfortunately no matter what style you... Read more

  4. "This was an excellent RPG."

This was an excellent RPG. The story line is interesting and the graphics were fantastic. This is one of those games that when you start playing it, it's hard to put down the controller. One drawback I found was that there were not enough skill points gained to really improve each of the fighting styles available to use, so a person ends up sticking with the strongest styles. But this slight drawback didn't hamper the enjoyment of the game at all. Read more

  5. One of the greastest games I've ever played

I still love this game. BioWare is number one when it comes to gameplay and story. There are so many gameplay options, and for its time, the graphics are fantastic. If you are a true RPG fan, you have to play this game, it's not your typical "fight the bad guys" game, and there is a plethora of side quests. KOTOR fans who have not played this game yet: shame on you. Buy it. You won't regret it. Read more or see product
