Conclusion: Currently, there are a few titles in the same category that have either just come out or are arriving soon. With these other competing platform games available, don’t overlook the fun and adventure of Haunted Mansion. It’s accessible to players of all ages and should provide a great escape to gamers. It’s at least worth a weekend rental, and perhaps more for those who just can’t get enough of the genre.
Excerpt: I have to admit that I was somewhat apprehensive when I sat down to play Haunted Mansion. Games with movie tie-ins are generally a chore to play and review, and the awful Pirates of the Caribbean game released earlier this year set some low expectations for Haunted Mansion. Well it’s a good thing that intrepid game reviewers such as yours truly bravely sit down and play every game that comes by their desk because if they didn’t then games that exceed our expectations...
Excerpt: Something strange must be going on with Disney. In the past year, they've gotten the idea to take rides from their Magic Kingdom theme park and turn them into movies loosely based on the films ( Pirates of the Caribbean , The Haunted Mansion ). Then, they have games developed for release around the same time that seemly have little to nothing to do with the actual movie.
Pros: Large variety of puzzles, Good clean fun
Cons: Graphics could be better, Not overly challenging or scary, Lock-on could be more helpful
Excerpt: Based on the Disney ride of the same name, The Haunted Mansion delivers some surprisingly fun gameplay that's easy enough for the younger crew to enjoy while still remaining fun for adults. Does it belong under your Christmas tree? Ask Eric right here.
Excerpt: The problem with reviewing a licensed game--a game based upon an existing product, be it a film, television show, comic book, or, in this case, a ride in a theme park--is that you have to pause at the beginning of the review to say whether or not this game's broken the "licensed game curse." The Haunted Mansion has. Sort of. The game has nothing to do, as far as I can tell, with the upcoming Eddie Murphy family-friendly Disney joint, except a title and a location.
Excerpt: "Haunted Mansion" will be another movie based upon a Disney ride, the second major feature after "Pirates of the Caribbean" was a roaring success earlier this year. "Mansion", which is out Thanksgiving, will star Eddie Murphy and will apparently take place in modern times. The game version of "Pirates" was another title that was taken over and redeveloped by Disney into a "Pirates" game. That game was rushed to meet the release date and contained a great deal of bugs.

Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Though not puzzles per se, given that there is nothing to 'solve' as such, the range of smart, ingenious challenges displayed within The Haunted Mansion bodes well for High Voltage's future endeavours. It's just a pity that in this title they're marred by such generic adventure mechanics.
