Summary: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a remastered version of the original Halo campaign, created in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the franchise, featuring a bounty of new features, including cooperative play over Xbox Live, a bundle of multiplayer maps reimagined for Xbox Live, new challenges and a new story.
Conclusion: Despite it's flaws, Halo for the PC is, dare I say it, superior to the Xbox version. Sure, it lacks Co-op mode, but online multiplayer more than makes up for it. With just the right amount of options, a great variety of multiplayer maps and an easy to jump into online mode, Halo PC is a worthy purchase, even if you already own the Xbox version.
Excerpt: Put your armour on, load up your weapon, and get ready for a 10-12hr blast of adrenaline. Halo: Combat evolved is a fast paced, intense battle based first person shooter that will keep you on your toes at all times.
Excerpt: When it was released two years ago, Halo: Combat Evolved was the system-seller for the Xbox. The original developer, Bungie, was making the game for the PC when they agreed to turn it into the exclusive launch game for the Xbox. For Microsoft's sake, it's a good thing that happened. Halo was an instant hit, and helped the Xbox get adopted pretty quickly in the US.
Summary: Kudos to the programming brain trust over at Westlake Interactive for pouring their hearts and souls into this title. Not only is the port rock-solid, but their work on bringing pixel and vertex shading, as well as the proprietary Windows APIs used for the user interface and networking code, was monumental.
