Full Spectrum Warrior Reader Review - 8.2

  • Conclusion: Being as Full Spectrum Warrior is the game that persuaded me to buy the X-Box in the first place, I don't have to say that my expectations were high. When I first got it i was so excited that I would have given the game a perfect score, now that I have it, and have played through a good portion of it, I have decided the game is not perfect. Overall the game is great, and groundbreaking in its design.

  • Excerpt: "When i first saw this game, i thought, wow i gotta have it! my first thoughts were that it was an FPS (first person shooter), but i was wrong. You control 2 US Army fire teams through, many missions. At first the game is very addictive, but then, you realise how easy it is, and how boring the missions are. I stopped playing it for some while, but now i have started to play it again and i am really enjoying it. If you're into Military game i suggest ...
  • Pros: Great grahics, quality sound, very realistic

Short but sweet

  • Summary: Commanding units to shoot and not shooting yourself is different to most games, but I think it works. It's easy to get the hang of the control system and how the game works. The levels are pretty good, and there's lots of action in them, but they are also quite linear. There's alley ways and side streets to go down to flank enemy's, but where you can go in the level is quite restricted, forced down certain streets, so how much you can use your imagination to complete the...

  • Excerpt: "...exactly what type of game Full Spectrum Warrior (FSW) is. This is a third-person tactical combat game set in an urban environment that shares more similarities to a real-time strategy (RTS) title than an action game. There is no God-like perspective which most RTS titles use, but the primary focus of FSW is to control two US Army fire teams (and occasionally a third) through various hostile settings in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Zekistan. ...

  • Excerpt: "...got was totally different. Therefore Full Spectrum Warrior sat on the shelf for quite some time until I picked it up again a week or so ago. My desire for a slick shooter was satisfied with Halo 2 and a couple of others so i could now fully appreciate Full Spectrum Warrior and on the second sitting I was impressed. Full Spectrum Warrior is a real time strategic squad game. You are put in charge of two four man squads and must work your way though ...

Realism The Key

DocBhoy, amazon.co.uk
5 February 2005
  • Summary: The first point to make is that this programme has been modelled on a real-life training programme for the US Army . As such , purchasers must realise that it is not going to be about movie-like rolling , diving and shooting . Nor is it going to be like Quake , with Rocket launcher propelled 100' jumps . No - this game is about realism , and it has that in spades .

Zekistan or Afghanistan?

  • Excerpt: "Full Spectrum Warrior marks the beginning of a new genre in gaming; it’s unlike any other game out there, combining the squad based tactics of titles like Ghost Recon and fast paced strategy. Unlike other team based shooters out there, in FSW you don’t actually take direct control of your troops but instead, move them around the map with a context sensitive cursor and giving them fire sectors telling them which direction they should shoot in. Strategy ...
  • Pros: A third perspective real - time strategy game !  Not many of those about !
  • Cons: The missions are like puzzles .  Once you know how to 'do' them, they're done .

  • Summary: First thing i better tell u is that ive only played tha demo of this game-(1 level).First impressions were a bit disapointing in that i was half expecting to be able to control the leading guy ie. rainbow six. but you soon realize that its not a first person shooter and you cant realy control ur team. ok.. so wot good is a game like that? well basically you take control of two teams 'alpha' and 'bravo', and you gotta use 'em to complete missions,ie. sounds easy init!

Great experience... to most

  • Summary: Lemme be honest with you. I am 1 of those 20% of people who found nothing exceptional in this game. Here are a few things i did like about the game. 1. MOUT, it teaches us everything we need to know about the game and how to win the next levels, it tells us what buttons is used for what etc etc 2. The 2 first missions, why? because after these 2 missions everything becomes like a reflex that you will not lose a soldier, ever 3. Graphics, bad language and realism.
