Freedom Fighters Reader Review - 8.4

Shadowstalker, IGN Entertainment
4 March 2004
  • Conclusion: Finnaly, here is a squad based game where controling your team is as easy as pressing a button. The intense fights you get into, backed by a great story, leaves this game looking good. While it had more potential, you couldn't really ask for much more. The multiplayer is good solid fun, but should of had more than just capture the flag. If your looking for a fun, easy to use squad controlling system, this is the game for you.

We're the Commies in America

self_aggr..., Ciao
6 February 2007
  • Excerpt: "For starters this game is very well layed out. Good graphics and good voice acting add to the atmosphere that make this game what it is. I was at first worried about it being too much like a team shooter, which I'm rubbish at, but I feel this makes the game easier. A little too easy if you ask me. I finished the game in about 2 days, which did annoy me, but then I did 'shoot my way' through it. The plot is typical of any game or film of it's genre. ...

Fighting against the opression of the Soviet regime.

Raul Leite, amazon.co.uk
31 May 2005
  • Summary: Set in an alternate Universe, where the Soviets were the first to use the atomic bomb and consequently went on to conquer the whole world (more or less, switch all events from the last 60 years being done by the USSR instead of the United States). The story starts off when the Soviets invade New York, prompting the creation of the Freedom Fighters movement, our character being one of them (later turning into the main fighter).

Would you fight for your freedom?

  • Excerpt: "...repetitive battle simulation. FF, or Freedom Fighters, the latest title from the producers of the acclaimed and great Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, skilfully dodges the many booby traps of AI squad tactics, and this, combined with unparalleled handling, mission layout and presentation, makes for a definitely superb game. The basic storyline of the game takes place in an alternative reality that defied the breakdown of the Soviet Union. So as a substitute, ...

HITMAN 2 is a much better game.

chris, amazon.co.uk
7 March 2004
  • Summary: I loved Hitman 2 with the multiple routes on each leval and you can go in guns blazing or use stealth. About 2 years later when Hitman 2 came out Freedom fighters came out(simular to Conflict Desert Storm). When playing the game theres not alot of origanality. You can't control your teamates like in Conflict Desert Storm. At the start of the game you are plumbing in New York and the Soviet Union come to take over New York.

Should be longer

Barro, amazon.co.uk

  • Summary: I bought the game due to the online reviews and the game site. It looked promising. I enjoyed playing single in the second most difficult level. Yet, it ended too quickly. After you learn the mechanics, it gets somewhat easy. The final level is too simple. I was expecting some real fight. And there are no big tanks (i only got to kill one). Soviets have lots of tanks...why didnt they use them? This game made me play it like Max Payne, trying to see what was next.

Too short!

harry rhodes, amazon.co.uk
22 October 2003
  • Summary: This is potentially a great game, with an interesting (if totally implausable - where are the U.S army?) storyline and great gameplay. The great gimmick is having your men running around with you and increasing in numbers as you gain charisma. The opening few levels are great, the multiplayer provides hours of fun - BUT...There is not enough of anything to make this game last any more than a week! Some more weapons would be nice.

One excellent shooter !

Pietburger "pietbok", amazon.co.uk
29 September 2003
  • Summary: I read the reviews of this game on the internet and thought this is well worth buying. I can now only comment after playing the first few missions, and can say it is a really good game. Your caracter is a plumber who has to fight off the Russian invasion of New york from a third person perspective view. Like conflict desert storm, you get to command some troops to aid you in your fight.
