Conclusion: When in Pimp phase, Pimp my Ride picks up a bit with the fun, as you’ll still have to drive recklessly around the city to hit the shops. Nitrous also comes in handy here, but the limited time to the first “pimp off” with your rival seems out of balance. You’ll gain a few additional seconds after a mod has been performed, but it’s hardly enough time to properly pimp a car in one round.
Conclusion: Generally, stateside gamers enjoy titles from Japan because they are for the Japanese market. In Final Fight Streetwise , you have a title that has that made-in-Japan feel, but has been created with the stateside gamer in mind- it's kind of confusing really. Frankly, Final Fight Streetwise does not really work on that “hard-edged U.S. game” level.
Excerpt: This is not the Final Fight your father remembers or the game you remember as a young whipper snapper. It's not a game that anyone will want to remember. The only real similarity Final Fight: Streetwise has to the classic brawler is the name on the front of the box. It's good that you know that right from the start, as I don't want you to think I'm trashing your favourite childhood game; I love it as much as you did, trust me.
Conclusion: The same cannot be said of Final Fight Streetwise , though. Instantly forgettable and certainly regrettable, this fighter is preposterously short on both brains and brawn. Here's to hoping that Streetwise listens to its title and is indeed the final Final Fight.
Excerpt: Sucker punched. As soon as Final Fight: Streetwise climbed into the ring, I knew I was in trouble. This was going to be a nasty brawl, a no-holds-barred, chicken-wire cage match with knives strapped to the ankles. If I was to get out of this one with two unpunctured kidneys, I had to aim low and bite hard. That did the trick. Underhyped and unloved, this reincarnation of the old beat-em-up slunk into our offices with fists pumping and weapons drawn.
