Conclusion: this game has very good parts in which only you the player have control over..like the start of the game is my best do you..A) sit back at your table and pay your bill..or B) panic and run out the fire escape door..the many choices/paths you pick is unltd..only you the player can change this nobody else can..but the random button pushing does get repetative after a while.
Conclusion: While the story of the game was for the most part good, the Parappa the Rapper style controls during the action sequences became tiring after a short while. I would have preferred some decent fighting action rather than the repeated button copying you have to do. You simply copy the direction shown on the screen during action sequences, which makes this less of a video game, and more like one of those Bop-It things that 8 year-olds use.
Excerpt: This really is a love it or loath it type of game, so before I say anything more, try to find a demo of it. Or even rent it for a few days, because it can't take more than 10 hours to complete. Well, I played the demo and was absolutely convinced to buy this- not at full price; I'm not insane, but at a pretty reasonable £10 second hand... Sorry, back to the game itself. You control a variety of characters through what is most accurately described as an interactive film.
Pros: Arguably a new step for adventure games
Cons: Linear as hell, not much point playing it more than once
Excerpt: Also known as "Indigo Prophecy" in america. This game is the odd one out in my collection. Not in a bad sense. I'd been looking forward to playing it for a while and it didn't let me down. I see that the other reviews have not recommended this game, I beg to differ, but that's my opinion. BRIEF PLOT SUMMARY You start off as Lucas Kane, an apparently average working man who gets possessed by an unknown evil which drives him to commit murder in the toilet of a diner.
Excerpt: When buying a game, rare are the moments where more than a cursory glance at the packaging is required to suss where a game is 'coming from'. All too frequently, the top ten section of your chosen format presents itself as a mosaic of bland sequels, invariably incorporating sport, guns or cars in that order. In a gaming context Fahrenheit appears somewhat left-field, and ultimately is how it secured a place in my games collection.
Pros: Unique and Refreshing, Sporadically Excellent
Excerpt: People will mither and moan about the oddest things. As videogame technology has improved over the years, so have the imaginations of game developers. Some folks see this as A Bad Thing, detracting from the pure videogaming experience that 2-D classics offered a few decades ago. Asteroids…Pac-Man…they all had simple, compelling game play that has ensured their longevity - Mrs Pepper even has Pac-Man on her mobile phone, by crimeny!
Pros: Innovative, great soundtrack, superb voice acting
Cons: Short lifespan, bad lip synching, ropey graphics
Summary: I have no arguments with most of the positive reviews here. This is undoubtedly a worthy and interesting new take on the adventure game genre. Anyone who plays it will recognise this as a 'significant' game. But I want to introduce a note of caution: this game is not for everyone. There is a very good chance that long before the end you will give up through boredom or frustration. It's that sort of game.
