Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: Those who enjoyed Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance will definitely enjoy Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes, but the game also has a broad appeal that should span outside to a host of gamers. If you’re looking for a four-player game to have fun with friends, Heroes should definitely be considered. While the single-player game is also enjoyable this game was designed to be played with others. It’s easy to pick up and difficult to put down.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes

Just RPG
3 October 2004
  • Excerpt: If you’re eagerly awaiting the release of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 , you might want to give this game a look. Dungeons & Dragons Heroes takes the basic hack and slash combat style and brings XBox owners an enjoyable gaming experience. 150 years ago, the powerful wizard Kaedin opened four portals, each leading to a different plane of existence. He harnessed the power of these planes and created four gems that held their power.

Dungeons & Dragons Heroes

Into Liquid Sky
28 September 2004
  • Excerpt: The Dungeons & Dragons name has been around for years, but rarely has it seen the light of day on a home console. Taking a page from Diablo , Gauntlet and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance , Atari has brought the D&D name to the Xbox. The story is your standard lot - years ago four heroes defeated an evil wizard. As the wizard was passing, he killed the heroes.
  • Pros: Good multiplayer action, Easy to pick up controls, Nice CG scenes
  • Cons: Blocky character models, Lots of fetching, Repetitive areas

  • Excerpt: I had my first exposure to Dungeons & Dragons on Christmas morning when I was 11 years old. Hidden amongst the veritable treasure trove of gifts Santa had left me was the official D&D starter kit. While it certainly wasn't the most high-profile present of the year, it was the one that intrigued me the most. Unfortunately, living in a rural area where I was the only boy around for a number of miles, meant my D&D career would go on permanent hiatus.

Dungeons & Dragons Heroes

The Gamers Temple
30 June 2004
  • Excerpt: Dungeons & Dragons Heroes carries the Dungeons & Dragons moniker, but it's not your typical D&D game.  Heroes is a hack and slash action RPG with the balance skewed way towards the action end of the spectrum.  If you've played Dark Alliance , then you'll notice that that game obviously served as an inspiration for Heroes, although Heroes tries to throw in even more action if you can believe that.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes

The Next Level
5 November 2003
  • Excerpt: The story centers around a tale in which 4 heroes (Cleric, Rogue, Fighter, and Wizard) defeated an evil wizard (Kaedin) 150 years ago who now has come back thanks to a group of evil clerics who have attempted to harness the dead wizard's power for themselves. Thankfully, you can choose one of these heroes and attempt to save the land of Baele, again, from the destruction that Kaedin is about to wreak.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes Review

AtomicGamer
6 October 2003
  • Excerpt: It was a couple of years back that Interplay released the PS2 version of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, an RPG/action title that didn't have a whole lot to do with the previous BG games. Its simple yet satisfying gameplay was like Diablo II-lite with better graphics and a console-oriented feel.

Dungeons & Dragons Heroes Review

  • Summary: D&D Heroes isn't a bad way of whiling away a few minutes, or hours, if you're looking for a pure hack-and-slash action RPG.
