  • Conclusion: The controls let this game down. The car dynamics are awful - the slightest mistake throws you out of control. It's extremely linear with fixed check points. Typical scenario - you run round a building shoot it out with four crooks, get in a car and attempt to chase the bad guy through crowded traffic. The slightest touch or mis-steer on a wildly over active control means you lose the bad guy and have to start all over again.

DRIV3R OR DISASTER

werdna123, Ciao
29 November 2004
  • Excerpt: "Driver 2 was my all time favourite game, i played it for hours on end on my ps1. Driver 3 was a big dissapointment. There was only 7 guns 3 of which where hand guns which seemed the same. There was 3 cities and as usual there was only one good city. Istanbul and Nice where so boring, the roads where narrow and there where no good cars on the road. The worst bit about Driv3r was if you saw a car you wanted to steal, you run toi jump into a car, which ...
  • Pros: Big cities
  • Cons: Not many guns

disappointing

  • Summary: I couldnt wait for Driver 3 to be released. On the surface, it looked like a really good game as Driver 2 was ace. However, when i first played this game, it was a great disappointment. Firstly, i personally feel that they havent bothered improving the graphics much, as they are bland like driver 2 (ps one material). Also, both cities are incredibally boring. However, they have introduced boats and bikes into this game.

What a disappointment

  • Excerpt: "Having enjoyed vast driving arenas from Midtown Madness and Midnight Club 2 I was looking forward to the release of Driv3r, combining extensive maps of Miami, Nice and Istanbul but also allowing for out-of-car action too. The pre-release screen shots look good so I foolishly bought it before reading any reviews. Big mistake! The maps themselves are extensive but the driving controls are too sensitive making the car hard to handle. The missions themselves ...
  • Pros: Not many
  • Cons: Poorly executed, done on the cheap

Very Disappointing!!

  • Summary: I've been a gamer for twenty years and I should have learnt by now not to believe the hype - but I did and I couldn't wait to play this game. The game is poorly presented, full of bugs and glitches, the control system stinks and most of all it's NOT FUN. The frustration you will experience when playing Driver 3 sucks all the possible enjoyment you could have had out of this game.

Driv3r - not impressed!!

  • Summary: Well folks, im afraid to say this game has been the biggest let down of the year for me. After all the hype and the realistic looking screen-shots and the reviews saying it would hammer GTA into oblivion, they dump this in front of us. Right from the start of the game i was dissapointed, maybe i just had a bad copy of the game, but the opening sequences were jerky and interrupted.

Beautiful rubbish

P. Martin, amazon.co.uk
1 July 2004
  • Summary: Having been a fan of the first two Driver games and GTA I obviously jumped at the chance to play Driver3. Upon first inspection the game looks spectacular; beautiful city environments and cars and bikes that with their mere presence seem to beg to be taken for a ride. However, the beauty is only skin deep. Vehicle controls are seriously erratic with terrible pop-ups and juddering stream feed. Once out of the vehicle things go from bad to worse.
