Dead to Rights

Game Over Online
9 October 2002
  • Excerpt: Dead to Rights sets itself up as a cop-turned-bad story and via extension, also sets itself up to comparisons with one of the most riveting (and under-appreciated) titles last year: Max Payne. Rights tracks the story of Jack Slate who experiences a familial loss, that of his father, to a random act of crime. Slate is then caught up in a whirlwind story which will take him towards the route of vigilante justice. It's got involving action and plenty of style.

Dead to Rights

ActionTrip
16 September 2002
  • Conclusion: Finally, I should just add that this game features sexy looking strippers in tight thongs! And you get to play one! I mean, what more can you ask for really? (Ed. - Apparently, 2Lions has always wanted to be a stripper.) Nice to see that Namco didn't really feel like making a politically correct game. So, besides getting to shoot one million bad guys in less than two in-game minutes, you get to check out "curvy" strippers wrapping their tight bodies around that pole!
  • Pros: The fighting action is as smooth. Excellent gameplay balance (I like 'em challenging) (Ed. - 2Lions likes em Long AND Hard); the soundtrack is excellently synched with the onscreen mayhem;
  • Cons: The fighting scenes are definitely not as good, or interesting as the fire fights. What's worst, there are plenty of them to boot! Blocky characters and environments. TOO much like Max Payne.

The action genre gets a lobotomy...

Web Wombat
8 August 2004
  • Conclusion: When Metal Gear Solid 2 doesn't appeal to you (God forbid that day should ever come) or Silent Hill has lost its edge, then you can pull out Dead to Rights, put the gray matter away in a box and strap yourself in for an evening of explosions, carnage, slow motion and templated cops.

Dead to Rights

Gamecell
8 August 2004
  • Conclusion: Dead to Rights isn't much more than an arcadey Max Payne, it plays smoothly and the graphics are good, there are some truly excellent mini-games and the dog is really cool, but if your looking for depth and tactics in your shooter than DtR most definitely isn't for you.
  • Pros: Fast-paced shooting action., Excellent mini-games., The dog is cool.
  • Cons: A bit linear., Auto-aiming is boring.

Dead to Rights Xbox Review

DarkZero
2 July 2004
  • Excerpt: After a pretty boring first mission you know all the controls and different actions your super cop play can do, and the brutality of “Dead to Rights” will start showing itself. Sometimes it is hard to imagine you are a cop doing what is right for the city and getting some revenge at the same time…but once you’ve performed your first disarm move in slow-motion, you won’t care. This part could use some more work.

Attaque Milou euh... Rintintin...

25 June 2004
