Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball

Xbox-Hq.Com

  • Excerpt: Game sucks. Girls are HOT, as usual. If your a Dead Or Alive Fan, try it. If you have a modded Xbox, there are patches, for "different" ways to view the game including, a snapshot camera. That loads a 1MB JPG straight to your HDD. I love it.!!

  • Excerpt: To get it out of the way, let's first look at the graphics. The DoA games have always featured pretty graphics, and XBV is no exception. The environments are absolutely gorgeous. The poolside and court areas are highly detailed, with slick light-sourcing representing different times in the day. Also, the sand on the beach is amazing. During a volleyball game, the sand starts out fairly smooth.

  • Excerpt: So we all know about the extravagant hype this title has generated, and it has created many differing opinions about the game's reputation. Some say it's just pointless 'fan service', with a game shamelessly tacked on. Others say it's all about the idea of dressing up the DOA ladies with more accessories and bathing suits than you could shake a stick at, then playing a game of volleyball at the beach. Is their really a decent game behind all this fluff?
  • Pros: Sugary-sweet graphics, Solid volleyball game engine
  • Cons: Not much variety

  • Summary: "You can probably tell from my review that I don't really rate this game at all, it is yet another in a line of poor releases for the Xbox released so far this year. While I initially had thoughts that this might turn out to be quite a good volleyball game, once you start to realize that there is hardly any volleyball in it I already started to lose interest" "I had some high hopes for this title when I read about it a few months ago, there were not many volleyball games...
  • Pros: Excellent graphics, Great summer soundtrack
  • Cons: No Live! Support, Not enough volleyball, Volleyball games are too simple, No replayability, Is it a game?

Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball

Gamecell

  • Conclusion: Tecmo are of course using sex and the titillating girls in the game to sell it, knowing young males will think it's really cool to have a game with near-nude characters in it, rather like the incredibly sad XXX BMX. In an industry where gameplay and innovation should be driving game development forward, a developer as well known and respected as Tecmo (DOA series, Project Zero and Ninja Gaiden) shouldn't have to sink to this rather smutty level (there can only be one...
  • Pros: It's certainly different from the usual genres out there., Lots of items to collect., Graphically pretty., It has scantily-clad girlies.
  • Cons: Seems to be little more than a tech-demo at times., The volleyball is awful., Is there really a point to the game?, Your mates may never speak to you again if they catch you playing it.
