Spider-Man 2 Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: There simply aren’t many videogames that have been able to fully realize the capabilities of a superhero, let alone provide an entertaining experience in the process. Most games (even the last Spider-Man game) do a few things right, but fall short. Spider-Man 2 may be the first videogame that succeeds in allowing grown men to finally live out their fantasy of being a true superhero.

  • Excerpt: They all blend into each other generally, don’t they’ One has realistic blood, another has tag battles in abundance and another has spine-tearing fatalities. The situation with the beat-’em-up genre is a million miles away from the way things were in the late nineties. Fewer titles are appearing on the shelves, and truly good ones are fewer still.

Dead or Alive Ultimate

Game Boyz
28 August 2005
  • Excerpt: Having recently released the newest Ninja Gaiden game on the X-Box, and with two scheduled Spring releases in the Dead or Alive series alone, I thought I’d have been severely mistaken to have expected anything but the best from Team Ninja. Of course, on closer inspection, I was wrong. Graphically, I was let down by the remastered Dead or Alive 1. In fact, Dead or Alive 1 left me more than a little wanting.

Project: Snowblind Review

IGN Entertainment
23 February 2005
  • Conclusion: There’s no doubt that Crystal D should be praised for their first venture into the FPS genre as Project: Snowblind is a rock-solid debut. The single-player campaign is as intense as we’ve ever played on the Xbox, although it doesn’t last too long (anywhere from 7-10 hours depending on your skill level).

A Sexy Battle Royal

GIN
26 January 2005
  • Excerpt: When Dead or Alive 3 came out as an Xbox launch title, I wasn't truly impressed with its gameplay. Sure the game was drop dead gorgeous, and showcased the power of the Xbox, the game played similar to DOA 2, right down to the cheap "counter every move you do" AI that the computer is notorious for. This time, Tecmo decided to take a step backwards with the release of Dead or Alive Ultimate.

Dead or Alive Ultimate

Gamecell
29 March 2006
  • Conclusion: The funky additional collectable stuff that endeared gamers to the series is here too, with a wealth of new items to collect, several new costumes for each character and the obligatory unlockables. However, the real proof of the longevity pudding is the Live! playability.
  • Pros: Gorgeous graphics., Match-winning reversals., Balanced gameplay., Fun online modes.
  • Cons: Dead or Alive 1 Ultimate., No English voice work., Non-existent story in “story mode”.

Online fighting comes of age

Web Wombat
23 October 2005
  • Conclusion: With Dead or Alive's proven fighting system that's easy to pick up play, with all the bonus features, including the surprisingly fun (and blocky looking) original game, the Dead or Alive Ultimate pack is a fighting fans dream come true, and has plenty of mainstream appeal too.

  • Conclusion: Although Dead or Alive: Ultimate isn't a breakthrough from a gameplay point of view it is still a fun, beautiful and exciting game to play. However where it really succeeds is with the online portion of the game, it has the same fun gameplay as the rest of the game except you can now face more challenging opponents as opposed to predictable AI. If you like fighting games and you have an Xbox, Dead or Alive: Ultimate is the place to be.
