Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: If people weren’t so offended by cussing, I’d be swearing up a storm to describe how great this game is. As I said before, I am by no means a flight fan whatsoever, and have never had any ounce of fun playing one before. For this reason alone, I recommend every Xbox fan to check this game out and give it a go. Don’t expect your typical flying game; in fact don’t expect anything at all because Crimson Skies has added a whole new feel to the genre.

  • Excerpt: is something that I wish we could see more of. No, not just more dogfighting games (but that would be cool); but an Xbox Live game that not only has a good online component, but a solid and fun single player game as well. Something that seems to be missing from a great many Live games. Most of the Live games I've tried have a fun online component, but a mediocre to horrid single player aspect.

  • Excerpt: Crimson Skies is an aerial action game set in an imaginative alternate world. In Crimson Skies' world, the United States split into separate nation states in the early Twentieth Century. It is now the 1930s and war between these new nations has so destroyed the transportation infrastructure that the only reliable means of transportation is air travel.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: I'll be honest; I was taken aback by Crimson Skies. I went into it expecting a mediocre flight sim and came out grinning, having experienced one of the better games of the past 12 months. This is a game that'll transform anyone into a fan of virtual aviation, and that's saying a lot. There's very little about this game not to like. Quite simply, it provides an unforgettable experience that looks and sounds amazing to boot.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge

4 February 2004
  • Excerpt: If one watched a recent Discovery Channel documentary about the development of Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge , it would have been very easy to write off as a complete train wreck. It seemed no one could pin down what the game should become. Was it supposed to be a flight simulator? Was it supposed to be an arcade game? Was it supposed to be an adventure game?
