Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: If people weren’t so offended by cussing, I’d be swearing up a storm to describe how great this game is. As I said before, I am by no means a flight fan whatsoever, and have never had any ounce of fun playing one before. For this reason alone, I recommend every Xbox fan to check this game out and give it a go. Don’t expect your typical flying game; in fact don’t expect anything at all because Crimson Skies has added a whole new feel to the genre.

  • Excerpt: is something that I wish we could see more of. No, not just more dogfighting games (but that would be cool); but an Xbox Live game that not only has a good online component, but a solid and fun single player game as well. Something that seems to be missing from a great many Live games. Most of the Live games I've tried have a fun online component, but a mediocre to horrid single player aspect.

Crimson Skies: Highroad to Revenge

  • Excerpt: I was first introduced to this game via The Discovery Channel's Special on XBOX and Game Design. It gave me an incredible appreciation for the hard work not to mention millions of dollars that go into making a 'hopeful' blockbuster game.

  • Excerpt: "Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge" opens with a rapid-fire clip that rivals most movie trailers for action and drama. The game cashes a pretty big check with this trailer before the main menu even arrives - but can it cover it? I'm pleased to say that "Crimson Skies" does - and more. This is an utterly beautiful, fast-paced and thrilling effort from Microsoft that I think will impress most gamers.

  • Excerpt: "Totaled!" initially grabbed my interest with its price tag. A new game priced to move ($29.99 instead of the usual $49), "Totaled!" also sounded like fun - a demolition derby powered by the XBOX. However, after playing the game for a while, the old saying, "you get what you paid for" was the first thing that came to mind. Although certainly not a terrible game, I think I would have gladly paid the extra money for a more complete experience.

Totaled!

The Next Level
24 September 2002
  • Excerpt: What makes the game unique is its scoring system. Crashes are rated by how much damage they cause as well as the type of collision. For example a low speed smash into the back of a car will earn less points than a high speed T-Bone. Points are only given to the aggressor of the impact. In other words, defensive driving does not pay. The ultimate scoring move is to total an opposing vehicle, reducing it to a pile of burning metal.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge review

Gamestyle
3 July 2004
  • Summary: Exotic aeroplanes and giant zeppelins which sport the skull and crossbones leave little doubt that the history revisionist’s pen has been at work here. Fanciful machinery, styled much like that of television’s classic Wild Wild West series, cultivates a vision of the 1930’s that is ripe for adventure. Grab the bomber jacket, and get ready to relive the heyday of ‘big air’ piracy – as a swashbuckling barnstormer in Crimson Skies!

Xbox Gazette
17 March 2008
