Conflict: Vietnam Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: When it comes down to it, a game based around a war has to posses certain qualities to stand out from the crowd. Shellshock: Nam ’67 had its over-the-top aspects, but what does Conflict: Vietnam have?

  • Conclusion: It’s something about Vietnam that has really been hard for developers to make a good-looking Vietnam game. Maybe they are just so used to creating World War 2 style war games that they just need time to learn the ways of Vietnam. So does Conflict: Vietnam do a great job portraying Vietnam?

  • Excerpt: Conflict: Vietnam uses the same formula of the four man squad. Each man in the squad is more adept at a certain aspect of combat: heavy weapons support, sniping, shock/assault and medic. You aren’t locked into that role of course.

Conflict Vietnam

Gamecell

  • Conclusion: The game always sounds right – sharp weapon noises and frightening explosions. Some decent voice acting, an in-game orchestral score and a few songs from the period also add atmosphere (most notably The Stones’ Paint it Black ) and Martha Reeves’ Nowhere To Run ).
  • Pros: Good graphics and sound make for plenty of atmosphere., 2, 3 or 4 player co-operative mode., This is one tough game with 14 missions to try and live through.
  • Cons: Rather confined, claustrophobic levels abound., This is one tough game -, to be casually enjoyable., Some dumb AI on both sides – or maybe it’s just realism., Still no Xbox Live co-op.
