See lessIn the end, Super Swing Golf may not be the perfect game of golf some of us were hoping for, but it certainly is a good effort. The game definitely capitalizes on its effective use of the Wii controls, which may not appeal to everyone. My recommendation would be to try this as a rental, and then go from there to see if this game is worth the full purchase price. Read more
The sizeable career mode and decent selection of multiplayer options (including Xbox Live support) mean 2005 will have more staying power than any McRae before it. The improved speed of the game and more beautifully designed stages (many have narrower, truly demanding technical sections) means far from being the “Colin McRae 3.2” that a lot of people were expecting, the game really flies. The cars are without a doubt the stars, never mind GT4, PGR2, Rallisport... Read more
All in all, Codemasters' obsessive attention to detail make CMR 2005 easily one of the most realistic driving simulations on the market. For fans of rally racing and closet gearheads, it plays like a dream, and the Xbox Live world ranking system is certain to keep those types up nights endlessly tweaking their rides in an attempt to clock the best time possible on every virtual backroad of Europe. For more casual players, the simple repair and customization interfaces... Read more
Codie’s has done it again. Online play, far better graphics, and a great lineup of cars. I haven’t even mentioned the best part yet - the price only went up ten bucks! Are you kidding me? For only thirty bucks, you can have the best rally sim available on the Xbox, and still have a twenty to put towards Forza, which is shaping up to be a road racer’s dream. It may be hard to justify owing two rally games unless you are a total nut for the WRC, but if you don’t... Read more
Everyone's favorite rally racer takes to the online world, but is that enough to make this year's edition better? Read more
Given the deserved reputation of the previous titles in this series, this should have been good. The pre-release hype talks of unrivalled scenery and graphics and all new game play, the fact is it is just more of the same and pretty disappointing it is too. This appears to be one title too far, one last attempt to repackage the driver's fading merchandisable value. For graphical realism and variety, the recently released Rallisport Challenge 2 is hugely impressive and... Read more
I've always been a rally racing fan. To me, point to point offroad racing has a fascination all its own. Colin McRae Rally is the purest distillation of the sport on the X-Box. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent playing this game. While there are flaws, the overall experience has yet to be matched for realism, gameplay and challenge. The beef of the game is in Career mode where you will race in various different challenges from the Ford Mk II Escort series to the... Read more
Having played Rallisport challenge 2 i found this game to be rather tame in comparison. Still, if you like car games then this is still worth a look. Read more
Unlike most racing games, McRae '05 is focused soley on Rally simulation. With that said, if you haven't played a rally game, throw all of the preconcieved notions out the window, this game is more about your driving skill rather than the ability to go fast. Track design is full of twists, turns, bumps, jumps, and varying terrain that not only test your ability to maneuver through them, but also test your ability to set up your car to handle the course. If you handle... Read more
