Second Sight Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: They say there’s nothing like your first kiss, which is true, but there’s really nothing like your first psi-kill. Using telekinesis to pummel a guard with fine Swedish furniture, or frying a cop with the Psi-Blast is just that, a blast. Aside from not having much replay value, and save for a few glitches visually and technically, Second Sight does everything an action game should - it entertains, excites, and makes you use your mind a bit.

Close Combat: First to Fight Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: Close Combat: First to Fight is a classic example of not being the best looking or sounding game around but still delivers what gamers are really after, fun factor both on and offline. The Xbox Live component performs very nicely and is taken up to a new level if you can find the right crowd to play with. The game gives gamers nearly everything that they want from a tactical title, supporting nearly everything that the Xbox has to offer.

  • Excerpt: Every so often, a game comes along that spawns a horde of imitators. Full Spectrum Warrior is one of those games. The team and strategy-based title which managed to capture the tactical imagination of players worldwide, whilst still containing the best ideas that the modern combat shoot-’em-up genre has to offer.

Close Combat: First to Fight

Game Over Online
20 July 2005
  • Excerpt: If you're like me and you're into tactical squad-based shooters, you've probably been twiddling your thumbs ever since Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 came out back in March. I recently broke out the original Ghost Recon and started playing that online, just for something "new" to do. But then Close Combat: First to Fight came across my desk and the drought was over. Or was it?

  • Excerpt: First to Fight boasts that its Based on a training tool developed for the United States Marines, but in fine print also states that the USMC nor any other part of the DoD has approved, endorsed or Authorized this product.

Thunderbolt Games
19 April 2005
  • Excerpt: It is becoming hard to argue that militaristic games aren’t becoming one of the most prevalent genres. With games like Brothers in Arms , America’s Army , far too many Tom Clancy shooters, and strategy/action hybrids like Full Spectrum Warrior , the battlefield has never been closer than it is now. Close Combat: First to Fight , based on a Marine training tool, promised to give us a realistic experience like none other.

Close Combat: First to Fight

Gamecell
19 October 2007
  • Conclusion: Best filed towards the front of the “good but not great, playable but flawed” section, Close Combat: First to Fight is an accomplished title that has some serious annoyances that hamper the enjoyment factor. It could have used the sort of attention and polish at the testing stage that Marines give their dress uniforms – if that had been the case we might have been talking about a new team shooter Xbox Live classic.
  • Pros: Smart looking weapons., Good tactical gameplay., Take note Rainbow Six: it has individual and team orders., The multiplayer modes are good fun.
  • Cons: Graphical and sound glitches., Needless control issues.

Close Combat: First to Fight Xbox Review

DarkZero
6 May 2005
  • Conclusion: All in all FTF was very close to being a welcome and respectable addition to the squad based genre but the game has so many flaws; each of them chipping away at what could have been something special and thus leaving it feeling barren and as a result extremely underwhelming. At times there is lots of fun to be had most of which is available in its trio of multiplayer mode but it could have been so much more.
