  • Conclusion: Chessmaster isn’t for all Xbox’ers, but it is highly recommended for anybody event remotely interested in learning how to play chess or wanting to become a better player. Those who are already established at the game but want an easier way to locate online competition will love the Xbox Live functionality and the ability to build up your rank through rated matches.

  • Excerpt: Chessmaster has been around for nearly as long as I can remember playing video games. The graphics have always met or exceeded expectations. Chessmaster for Xbox is no exception. There are lots of boards and sets of pieces, each with its own theme and color scheme. There are also three whimsical chess sets that incorporate animations – no, you don’t get to cut off the heads of your opponent’s pieces. We said whimsical! Not diabolical.

  • Excerpt: I started playing chess, with my father, at the age of six. So while my first video game experience came at age 3 with the arcade systems, then later the NES, my first board game that didn’t have the names ‘Chutes & Ladders’ or ‘Candy Land’ in it was the game of chess. It built my strategy skills, which could further assist me in playing my beloved video games.
