Cel Damage Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: I liked Cel Damage. My biggest problems with the game occured in single player mode. As much as I like being beaten unmercifully by a duck in a fedora, it can become frustrating and a bit repetitive after a few rounds. Although I don't see myself playing it everyday, mindless fun with friends adds to the replay value. Games are meant to be beaten, right? This one is hard to do. That is one of the reasons I like “Dominique Trix” so much.

Cel Damage

Game Vortex

  • Excerpt: The graphics are the best thing about Cel Damage . The cel shading used in the game's cartoon-like third person perspective are smooth, wonderfully animated, and colorful. The six available characters and their vehicles are all nicely animated, as are the four different areas you can race them in. Sound effects are appropriate for the mayhem that ensues, as characters 'smack' each other, destroying each other's cars, as well as much of the landscape.

  • Excerpt: Had Cel Damage been an actual TV cartoon, it could have been ripped straight from the television, all characters and their nuances intact, and this game would have been made exactly the same way. That’s not to say that the cartoon would have been any good though, because most cartoon characters have the intelligence and complex thought capacity of flatworms. So it is that the overly eccentric characters in Cel Damage are the same way.

The Next Level
19 December 2001
  • Excerpt: Unlike previous console generations, video gaming has evolved past its stereotypical "nerdy" image. Now recognized by the mainstream market, gamers as a whole have educated themselves as to what elements in games are condusive to entertainment. And as a result, developers were compelled to recognize these newly developed interests and deliver in a timely fashion. Thanks to the recent release of Incog's Twisted Metal: Black , car combat action has been reborn.

Cel Damage Review

GameSpot
16 November 2001
  • Excerpt: Vehicular combat was popularized in such games as Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8 and has seen some spectacular recent efforts. Racing around an interactive environment, collecting weaponry, and blowing up the opposition blend the worlds of driving and combat in a way that gamers have come to appreciate as a game type all its own.

Nic to.
