Forza Motorsport 3

  • Excerpt: Grand Turismo may still be the leading series in the racing genre but Forza 3 is closing in on them with the new Forza. The team at turn 10 have made a huge effort to make the best racing Sim possible and some people are saying that it is better than Grand Turismo.Turn 10 has added so much onto the original 2 Forza's and the outcome is spectacular.

  • Excerpt: I can never fail to applaud a publisher that decides to release a brand new game at a reduced price point. Having picked up Argonaut’s Carve from publisherless oblivion, Take 2 have decided to do just that, with this Xbox Live compatible title hitting the shelves at just £19.99. Usually though, there is a reason for lower prices, with the most popular one being that the quality of the game doesn’t warrant a full £40 release.

  • Summary: Overall for its price you can't really go wrong, it offers a fair amount of good gameplay with plenty of tricks and is better than its Xbox competitor Splashdown. The addition of online play also adds to the longevity of the game. Unfortunately the fact that it's a budget title does mean it's limited in areas. If your looking for a filler until your next full price purchase then Carve is probably your best option.

Carve – Review

GameCritics.com
5 May 2005
  • Excerpt: Carve is one of the innumerable water racing games that strives to cash in on the immense popularity of Nintendo's Wave Race from way back 1996. As it is, it's a perfectly serviceable game—adequate in every respect such that fans of the genre will find satisfaction, but conversely lacking any noteworthy stylistic or mechanical innovation to separate it from the pack. It's hard to really hate on the game, because it doesn't do anything poorly.

  • Excerpt: Believe it or not, it is difficult to be a game reviewer sometimes. Oh, it's true. After all, you see, not every game that comes across our desks is "Grade A" material. In fact, there are some games not even worth a letter grade or number score. In fact, there are times when a game is so bad that it RIPS, CLAWS, and TEARS at a reviewer's darkside BEGGING AND PLEADING FOR THEM TO SEND THE WRATH OF THEIR ALMIGHT PEN DOWN AND UPON THEM AND WRITE THEM OUT OF THEIR MISERABLE...

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Budget releases have a stigma attached to them, causing people to assume that the reduced price somehow means the company is trying to offload a poor product. Carve is not a poor product. While it could have been a lot better, there are moments of fun in the game. The only reason I would not suggest that you at least give it a try is the abysmal turnout online at the moment.
