Good but irritating

toffeepete, amazon.co.uk

  • Summary: It's painfully obvious that the people that made this game don't play cricket which is disappointing. The field settings are all wrong, whenever a batsman gets near a 50,100 etc then their confidence plummets even if they've moosed sixes to get there, you can't sweep, the keeper tends to hit the wickets even when the batsmans walking in but is then reluctant to stump!

  • Summary: When I received this game as a reward, I was excited as it was the first cricket game I had ever received. This game is very easy to pick up, very realistic, you can create your own character which I'm not a fan of but there a few bad points... Let me explain... When you want to play on normal mode or multiplayer, the players on teams don't have their correct names and are not the same people.

Fun but not for too long...

  • Excerpt: The best cricket game available to date. Batting is fairly straight forward once you work out how to use the controls and you get the hang of timing your shots. You can score pretty easily, 20 runs an over is not unusual. Bowling is a bit more tricky though. Against the lower ranked side like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe you can usually wittle them out easily enough but as soon as you try playing anyone decent it gets much harder.

A great game that gets more realistic as you progress

  • Summary: I first bought this game a couple of months back, having heard all the terrible reviews about the EA offering, and I have never looked back! Codemasters have taken what should be a tremendously boring subject for a computer game - cricket of all things - and turned it into something fun, addictive and very realistic that will have fans of the sport hooked for a long time.

Brian Lara hits Cricket 2005 for six!

Alex Corkhill, amazon.co.uk
3 August 2005
  • Summary: Put simply this is the console cricket game to buy this summer. It's fun, easy to get into, well presented and has plenty of different game modes for lasing appeal. Although the graphics may not be as detailed as EA's offering and the player names are wrong (in the style of Pro Evolution Soccer) its game play that counts and Brian Lara drives home the winning runs. The most important feature in any cricket game is the batting which is very well designed in Brian Lara.

Brilliant Brian

  • Summary: It was well worth buying this game over Ea sports Cricket 2005. The batting and bowling are easy to master although in easy mode sixes do come very often for example with Andrew Flintoff i scored 100 runs in only 69 balls. Catching is tricky in that you have to get it exactly right or it will be dropped. The test matches are good in that you can save at the start of every over. And the game double wicket is also good fun to play.

Brian Lara Cricket is it better than EA sports version?

"elliottgibbs2", amazon.co.uk
28 July 2005
  • Summary: I have bought brian lara and hired EA Cricket, brian lara has some bad points the graphics are almost the same as the 95 version for the ps1, so no time was spent on that at all, all the player names are incorrect ( this does not bother some people e.g pro evo v fifa) but the fact that all the players are out of date as well, nasser husain still plays for england along with caddick, and others on other teams, for a game thats ment to be 2005 its more like 1998.
