Good but irritating

toffeepete, amazon.co.uk

  • Summary: It's painfully obvious that the people that made this game don't play cricket which is disappointing. The field settings are all wrong, whenever a batsman gets near a 50,100 etc then their confidence plummets even if they've moosed sixes to get there, you can't sweep, the keeper tends to hit the wickets even when the batsmans walking in but is then reluctant to stump!

  • Excerpt: Due to the lack of cricket titles available on consoles these days Brian Lara is definitely the best one out there but its by no means perfect. Batting is very enjoyable and the controls couldn't be easier, direction plus A and voila runs are to be had. Scoring of 25+ an over is about par on the easier levels of difficulty but this only drops to 15 or so at the highest difficulties.

  • Summary: When I received this game as a reward, I was excited as it was the first cricket game I had ever received. This game is very easy to pick up, very realistic, you can create your own character which I'm not a fan of but there a few bad points... Let me explain... When you want to play on normal mode or multiplayer, the players on teams don't have their correct names and are not the same people.

Has the features to be a good game

Anonymous, amazon.co.uk
26 September 2008
  • Summary: This game is very easy to pick up through practising in the 'Nets. However, aspects of the game such as catching, run outs and general fielding are awful; it is difficult to catch as you have to try and wait when and press A as soon as a white line hovers over a yellow line. Another issue which seems to be common in cricket games is the fact that Codemasters do not receive full publishing rights; names will be accurate in the tournaments such as the Champions Trophy, but...

  • Excerpt: "Brian lara 2005 has to be the best cricket team around i brought when it first came it was really good but there are places for improvement. The game is very easy and simple to play but it seems to easy as you can post some high scores with just hitting fours and sixes and it is incredible hard to get a wicket it is not as easy as it sounds. They could aslo have put more challenges in the game their are only 9 challenges which are very easy to complete ...

  • Excerpt: "Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 leaves off from the previous installment, Brian Lara Cricket 99. The game features correct rosters for official tournaments (ie, for world cup 2003 and champions trophy, the squad lists are what they really were) but contain fake names and faces for exhibition and unofficial games. Kits are also either out of date (official tournaments) or fake. The game itself is fun to play at first. Bowling contains all sorts ...
