Conclusion: In the end, Bloodrayne set out to deliver a “leave your brain at the door” action game, and that is certainly what was delivered. The action is fluid and fast paced, the gore level is high, and the game never lags in pace. There were some hits graphically and in the sound department, but for gamers looking for this type of action game, it won’t matter. This is definitely worth a look for anyone interested, but the length keeps it from being worth a full price tag.
Excerpt: In BloodRayne, you are a young woman named Rayne. However, you are not an ordinary young woman, you are a Dhampir, a half vampire born of a human mother. As a Dhampir, you possess many of the strengths of a vampire, while being free of many of the weaknesses. When you were a teenager you were recruited by the Brimstone Society, a secret organization devoted to protecting the world from supernatural threats, and became known as Agent BloodRayne.
Excerpt: Opening with a gorgeous and
bloodthirsty cinematic intro, BloodRayne is a sojourn into the dark and
gothic underworld of monsters, vampires and other creatures of the night.
Make sure you play this one with the lights on. Even though it has severe
shortcomings it still manages to convey a feeling of dread and things that
go bump in the night.
The plot revolves around the female BloodRayne.
Excerpt: This game by no means hides its intended audience, featuring huge amounts of blood, tons of limb-cutting, mutations, and plenty of blatantly overt sexual references. The first few are quite nice and have some great details, but the forced sexuality - chests jiggle often for no reason and drinking blood tends to sound like a porno movie - is often hysterical thanks to how poorly it's done.
Conclusion: Unlike the original Bloodrayne, Bloodrayne 2 uses motion-captured movements as well as a new soft body physics engine that offers more dynamic and realistic bloodbaths. The life-like movements of Bloodrayne 2 plus the revamped aura vision really improves the feeling of playing an integral role in the game.
Excerpt: "BloodRayne on keskinkertainen toimintaeepos, jossa isopovinen, mielellään lateksiin pukeutuva ihmisvampyyri-tyttönen saa tehtäväkseen kurmottaa Hitlerin naziarmeijan kätyreitä toisen maailmansodan aika-kaudella jos jonkinlaisin konstein.
Conclusion: 10 /20 Techniquement, Blood Rayne est vraiment médiocre.
