Conclusion: Battlestar Galactica certainly does its TV show creator proud, but when looking at the total package the game is simply an above average space shooter. The sketchy mission objectives and the difficulty level will certainly turn off everyone but true diehard Battlestar Galactica fans. The lack of save points is a major oversight that causes far more frustration than needed and with the repetitiveness of a few levels, often the aggravation doesn’t seem worth it.
Excerpt: Battlestar Galactica review Game Over Online - http://www.game-over.com If publisher Vivendi Universal was hoping to capitalize on the revival of this (in)famous franchise, it may be counting on it too much. The Battlestar Galactica show itself is not drumming up any momentum for related media properties to prosper.
Excerpt: As a budding Adama, you'll help lead a fleet of humans in their war for survival against the Cylons. The Cylons, exiled for revolting against their human masters, have returned to wipe out their former adversaries. While the humans won the first war to drive them to exile, the second encounter with the Cylons have driven those humans remaining to the stars.
Conclusion: combat to defense. One of the key selling points of the original TV series these days is its cheesy 70s sci-fi sensibility. It will be interesting to see how (or even if) this facet of the show is implemented in the game, or will it just be a space flight combat game with the name Battlestar Galactica slapped on it.
Conclusion: While Battlestar Galactica is incredibly difficult to master with unclear objectives, lethal enemies and challenging (read: long and unsaveable) missions, the game still manages to hit all the right notes. The visual effects are utterly beautiful, the audio is equally attractive and all of the ships handle incredibly well, with the third person perspective makes a refreshing change.
Pros: fighter craft and environments look amazing, voiceover talent & soundtrack are impressive, fast and frantic gameplay good hunting!
Cons: mummy, it's too hard!, objectives not always easily identifiable, no mid-game save option
