A not too bad snowboarding game.

Anthony Colford, MobyGames
3 November 2003
  • Conclusion: This game is realistic but many bugs and poor multi-player make it a good rent but I only own it because it came with my Xbox. Otherwise I would have never bought it. However hard core snowboarders will love this game.
  • Pros: The graphics in this game are awesome. The snow is very realistic. When you turn you throw snow everywhere! You can see a lot of details in most everything and the mountains are very different from one another. Some consisting of natural rocks and rails such as fallen trees and mounds of snow. Others consist of man made objects such as ramps, half-pipes, and metal rails. The multiple drop points give the mountains some replay value. As does the ability to earn new clo...
  • Cons: The multi-player is pathetic. Your stuck with taking turns on one player game modes just so the developer can say this game has multi-player. Also there are many bugs. I can't count the amount of times that I got my head stuck in a log or hit a rail and flipped around a couple times very very quickly only to land and get points for it! Lots of points. The many tricks the game promises are just combos which get you way to many points. In fact switching the type of grab...

Cheap Thrills

daddyof3, Ciao
24 June 2006
  • Excerpt: Amped is a Snowboarding game, now in its third incarnation. Now this is a good thing to know as poor games rarely get a sequel - this has had two later versions. But having been made curious, I was unwilling to pay the £40 for the newest version without checking that I liked the general gist of the game. So I found the original Amped in a second hand section of Game and thought I would give it a whirl. At only £5, what could I lose?
  • Pros: Hard to complete  -  if you get into it, it will last you ages
  • Cons: Its hard to complete  -  you won't get into it and it will last 2 hours

Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding (Xbox)

  • Excerpt: While Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding is visually impressive and loaded with options, its technical merits are drastically undermined by its shoddy gameplay. In the days of yore, snowboarding games were a niche genre that was traditionally only filled after the skateboarding, BMX, motocross, and other extreme sports games had already been released.
  • Pros: white boarding

THE GAME TRUELY GETS YOU AMPED!

  • Excerpt: The snowboarding genre is kind of an old one now.. original extreme sport games like Coolboarders, 1080 really brough extreme sports to the table, bringing oportunaties for games like Tony Hawk and Dave Mirra. However the snowboarding genre really hit our hearts when games like SSX was released, inventing the enjoyment of fantasy snowboarding. Remember Games like Pro Boarder for the PS1 that was a great fresh attempt for the console generation.

Great when drunk

DUNCAN "Duncan", Amazon
27 July 2003
  • Summary: This is the only game I have so far bought that justifies my decision to spend weeks downloading my CDs onto the hard drive. I shall say now - I'm not that good at it (although a rousing, personalized soundtrack works wonders with my jumps). It is a lot of fun when you've had a few tinnies because you can appreciate the odd occasion when you land a monster combo without worrying that you missed your target score by 50000.

Not need for snow

Kimea, Ciao
15 March 2003
  • Excerpt: I reside a few kilometres from a mountain, every winter I descend the slopes on my board. But when there is no snow, I play on my Xbox Furiously tendency, simulations of snowboard recently became very new extensive with the superb SSX. I thus will speak to you about a play which I like much: Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding. However in spite of its undeniable qualities, the extreme series of Electronic Arts had not managed to satisfy all the amateurs of slips winter.

dull dull dull

  • Excerpt: I bought this game after playing on the offical demo. What a mistake! My own fault - I should've realise by the number of pre-owned copies on sale. The demo is good and quite addictive but only because you can only play for about 3 minutes before it stops. It leaves you wanting more more more. The full game is ok if you like down jumps, grabs etc but quickly dulls as there's nothing else to do. I'd played SSX Tricky to death on the PS2 and that was a big mistake!
  • Pros: outstanding realism in gfx and gameplay
  • Cons: quicky becomes boring

Love it and Hate it

Mr. A. J. Fleming "aj00f", Amazon
16 April 2002
  • Summary: Well this game is pretty good, but its not like SSX tricky one bit, the graphics are firstly *a lot* better, and secondly this game is *A LOT* harder. Infact this is the only thing that spoils this otherwise highly entertaining game. Basicly the problem is you have to be totally pin point accurate with your play, and sometimes I can mess up and I just dont know why, this leaves me feeling frustrated and cheated.
