Alias

The Gamers Temple
9 September 2004
  • Excerpt: The Alias TV series requires its viewers to pay attention to keep track of all of the characters and their dealings and double-dealings, and if you miss a show or two you can quickly become pretty lost.  Because of this, Alias the game is primarily aimed at fans of the television series.  The game does not provide anything in the way of background story or character information, so gamers who have never seen the show would be hopelessly confused.

  • Excerpt: If you're a fan of the TV show Alias, you'll probably find a good deal if interactive insider gameplay in the Xbox version of the show; just don't expect it to be any deeper than your typical licensing gimmick.

Alias

Game Over Online
1 June 2004
  • Excerpt: Alias is a study in contrasts. It is a stealth-based game with a deep hand-to-hand combat engine, featuring a wide variety of improvised and otherwise melee weapons, but it's not like any other game that meets that description. It is, of course, based upon the ABC television show, and its production values are appropriately high.

Game Over Online
1 June 2004
  • Excerpt: It is, of course, based upon the ABC television show, and its production values are appropriately high. You'll be controlling CIA agent Sydney Bristow, with backup from Dixon, Vaughn, and Marshall (I haven't seen "Alias"; am I supposed to want to hit Marshall?). All of the characters are voiced by the actors that play them on the program, and animated to look almost exactly like those actors.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Games like Alias are not made for gamers. They're made for consumers walking the aisles at entertainment megastores who see a familiar face and say: What the hell, why not? Little surprise then that the game offers scant not done before and much better. There's no unique selling point outside of its franchise roots, which helps distil the only question that needs answering: Are you enough of a fan of the show to pay good money for a mediocre tie-in?

Alias

12 April 2004
  • Excerpt: Jennifer Garner is dressed to kill in Alias. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the series, Alias is an award winning series about the CIA. Jennifer Garner plays agent Sydney Bristow. Sydney must complete espionage ops to help preserve the life Americans have become accustomed to. In doing so, she often has to take on an alias (or alternate identity) to infiltrate the enemy’s stronghold.

  • Excerpt: First off I am a huge fan of the show, so this was a must game for me. I thought I would be a little bias, but all in all this review is honest. I was very pleased to hear that JJ Abrams and other writers of the series were going to pen the story line.

Xbox Rocks

GIN
12 December 2001
  • Excerpt: Wow!!! Things sure have improved since the last console system I owned, that being the Atari 2600. Seriously now, working for GiN has allowed me to see all the new console systems. And quite honestly I have considered buying each and every one of them. I am not sure what tipped the scale in favor of the Xbox. The excuse I keep using is that I bought it to help improve the economy after September 11.
